I know what I tell him next is going to be super disappointing.

“I gotta get that,” I say, nodding towards my handbag.

He blinks. Once. Twice.

“What?”

“Hold that amazing thought just one second,” I say before reaching for my phone. “But I really need to pick this up.”

Damn it. Damn it. Damn it. Worst. Timing. Ever.

I lift the phone to my ear as Harry looks at me in complete bewilderment.

“Hello?”

“Chastity? It's good I’ve got through to you.”

Turns out it’s my boss.

“What is it, Mark? You know it’s a Friday evening, right?”

He ignores me and the fact that the noisy room I’m in is clearly a bar. “I need you to come into the office tomorrow morning. Eight o’clock sharp.”

“Tomorrow is a Saturday, Mark.”

“This is an emergency, Chastity.”

“I can’t.”

“You have to. You want me to pull up your job description and responsibilities?”

Shit.

Well, that’s my night ruined, then.

“Can I at least ask what it’s about?”

“It’s… better if I explain things in person.”

“Stop being so mysterious, Mark, and tell me why you need me in on a Saturday.”

“Trust me, it’s much better if you just come in and let me tell you why in person.”

“That bad, huh?”

“Yes, it is.”

Double shit.

I sigh for the longest time.

“Okay. I’ll be there, but you owe me.”

I hang up the phone and make the biggest apology face ever to Harry.

“Sorry about that,” I say. “I gotta run.”

“Right now?” he asks.
