“You know what?” I said, unable to keep my happiness inside. “We totally are.”

Kyle grinned at me as if he agreed, then leaned in to give me a big, sloppy kiss.

“Eew, get a room, you two,” Diccon snorted, then looked at Theo like he wished they were making out in public as well.

“Hey, I’ve put up with you guys overdoing the PDAs all summer,” I teased him. “It’s my turn to make you all uncomfortable.”

“The only people we’re making uncomfortable are the customers who want their coffee,” Sam said, shaking his head at us all. “We should get back to work.”

“We really should,” Marco said, starting for the door and his own shop. “I’ll be in touch with you guys about Halloween stuff.”

Our little group broke up. Since I wasn’t working, I wandered with Kyle into the back room, where a couple of locals were playing their guitars and singing on an informal basis.

“I actually do think great things are on the horizon for all of us,” I told Kyle, slipping fully into his arms as we stood at the back of the room. “I have a good feeling.”

“So do I,” Kyle said, smiling at me and brushing his knuckles over the side of my face. “It’s like the peace and calm you feel after a storm has washed away all the heat and tension.”

“Yeah, exactly like that,” I said. “Although it was kind of fun to get into it with you.”

Kyle laughed. “We’ve still got baseball for that,” he said. “I’m not giving up the Walruses for you, no matter how good you are in bed.”

Dammit, I blushed at that statement. Half because I knew a juicy compliment when I heard one.

“Next summer is a long way away,” I said, snuggling more closely into him. “We’ve got a long winter ahead of us to keep each other warm.”

“And I’m sure we’ll do just that,” Kyle said, then kissed me again.

I was sure we’d have a great winter. I was pretty sure we’d have a great rest of our life, too.
