Rebel and I lock eyes for a moment and stare each other down. I silently beg for him to drop it, and thankfully he does.

“She’s our club doctor. Usually I wouldn’t want her around, but I think it’s best she knows what’s happening so she knows what to anticipate.” Reaper provides an answer for me.

Reluctantly, Rebel nods. “Understood. Sorry, please continue.”

When Trigger starts talking, I let out a slow breath.

Fuck, I really didn’t think it through about how hard this would be.

Evelyn

Maverick gets up and answers the door, only to come back a few minutes later with enough pizzas to sink a battleship. Reaper ordered and paid for it under Maverick’s pseudonym.

As a unit, we all move to the table to make our plates before we sit back in our spots.

“So are you all from Vegas?” Maverick asks, breaking the silence.

Colt shakes his head. “I’m from Texas. My dad led the San Antonio chapter before my cousin took over.”

Rebel shakes his head. “Sorry about your family’s loss.”

I hate that even if I didn’t know about what happened with Colt in Texas, that I would know what that meant. It is very rare a president leaves his position willingly.

As everyone tucks into conversations, I can’t help but study them all.

I might not have known Hades long, but even I can tell that he’s holding back. Trying to distance himself from his former brothers, and poor Maverick looks like he wants to say something but doesn’t.

It’s interesting. I know what he told me about why he left, but that doesn’t explain the way they all interact. Not really, at least.

It has me wanting to know all Hades’ secrets. I actually want to get to know the man.

“Your dad was a good man,” Hades murmurs, nodding toward Colt.

A soft smile crosses Colt’s face. “He liked you, that’s for sure.”

Rebel makes a noise but doesn’t say anything, and I can’t help but glare at the man.

“So, Evelyn, what is it you do exactly, and how long have you been with Hades?” Maverick asks.

I shake my head, feeling caught off guard. “Oh, Hades and I are just friends.”

“Since when?” Wrath mutters.

“Bullshit.” Colt covers with a fake cough.

I ignore them both and continue. “I’m a doctor at the local hospital.”

“Labor and delivery or something?” Rebel asks.

I shake my head. “No, I work in the ER.”

“Like I said, Evelyn is our club doctor. We have a whole setup for her in the basement, so if anything happens, she will be able to treat a brother at a moment’s notice,” Reaper adds.

“That’s a lot of pressure for one person,” Maverick says with respect.

“What if you have more than one person critically hurt?” Rebel asks.

“Then they go to the hospital. Or if it’s something we need off the books and can take care of it in-house, my best friend is a doctor and will come when I need a hand.”
