Wrath nods. “You were. Over a decade ago when you were in your twenties. I admit, when I heard why, I was hesitant to accept you, but then I thought about it, and well, you are a solid guy. I don’t know why you did it, but I’m sure you had your reasons.”

I snort. “I wanted to get my dick wet, and she was there.”

He shakes his head. “That’s the facade talking. Truth is, girl was a whore.”

I freeze, surprised by his statement.

“How do you know?”

“Trigger did his research. After Remi told Reaper what happened, Trigger dug into the situation a bit more. You’ll be happy to know that Rebecca Solomon is a stripper at some place called Body Shots in Ocala, Florida. From the reviews, it seems that the reputation of the place is less than stellar.”

I grunt. I never once considered where Becky would end up. Honestly, I want to be the better man and wish her a good life, but no. Fuck that bitch. She cheated on my brother without a second fucking thought. I know women like her. She deserves every bit of misery she gets.

“Anyway, that’s not the point I’m making. We accepted you. You’re practically on the council. Midnight is letting you run his business when the time comes. You’re one of us, so stop acting like such an outsider. If you want that woman? Go for it. Reaper will support you.”

“And if I don’t?” I growl out.

“Your loss. Evelyn is one hell of a woman. A real wildcat. She could use someone like you to rein her in a bit. Protect her when that mouth gets a bit too much. Not that she can’t protect herself. I taught her how to throw a mean right hook.”

Wrath doesn’t wait for a response. He walks out of the room, heading to whatever the fuck he does around here.

I think about what he said but blow it off. Even if I wanted Evelyn, it is clear she hates me. That’s a hatred I have fostered. I enjoy the insults she sends my way. I like baiting her.

Maybe that’s why I’m so fucked up. I bait the fuck out of a woman who can castrate me.

My phone buzzes in my pocket, drawing my attention from my thoughts.

“Mav, good to hear from you,” I answer like I always do.

“Likewise. I hear you missed me so much you finally put your big girl panties on and called Daddy for permission to borrow me.”

“Daddy? You into some new things these days?”

I play it off like a joke, but the weight of not knowing what has happened this past decade settles on my chest.

“He wishes. Maybe he would get the stick that’s been up his ass since you left dislodged.”

I hate hearing that Remi hasn’t been happy. I never wanted to ruin things for him. I only wanted to stop him from making a huge mistake.

The silence on the phone is deafening as I try to work out what to say. Maverick saves me the trouble.

“He’s okay, really. It was a joke.” He clears his throat. “I’m calling to let you know when we will be there and to figure out where you want to meet us.”

“Are you riding out?” I ask.

“That would have been the plan if we were coming as bikers, but I hear that we aren’t. So we are flying over and renting a car. Something that screams upper class.”

“Smart. I’ll talk with Reaper and see where it would make the most sense for you to fly into. We will need a way to meet without anyone knowing. Reaper will want to meet you before he puts you under.”

“Understood. Figure out the details and send them to me.”

“Will do.”

“Oh, and Hades?”

I grunt.

“I’m glad I’ll get to see you again.”
