“Fine, one round, that’s it.” Then she was leaving. It was getting closer to midnight, and despite having fun, she did not want to sleep in and waste the day tomorrow—or have a hangover.
“Never have I ever left the country,” Jada threw out to start the game.
Jada was the only one who didn’t put a finger down.
“Wow, lucky me! I knew Rachel studied abroad in college and just assumed the three of you had on one of your giant family trips.”
Jason gave her a grin. “You’re right. One summer, we went to Canada for a camping trip.”
“How old were you guys?” Jada asked.
Jason paused. “I don’t remember other than I was old enough to drink.”
“I was eighteen,” Charlotte said, resentful at the memory.
Rafe, however, was full of charm with his sexy smile. “That was our most memorable vacation.”
“Camping?” Jason grimaced. “I was twenty-one and stuck in a tent.”
Camping was a discussion that was not on the table. Charlotte urged Rachel to continue the ridiculous game so no one poked about that trip. “Isn’t it your turn for a question? We are getting so off track.”
“You’re right.” Rachel perked up. “But I’m not asking innocent questions. I want to know the juicy stuff.”
Great, Charlotte thought.
“To keep with the theme, never have I ever had sex while camping.” Rachel didn’t put a finger down. “I never have, and I bet it’s sexy having sex in a sleeping bag.”
“Yet. You never have yet,” said Jason with a wink. “I am always here if you need a partner.”
“You are so gross,” Charlotte stuck out her tongue at her brother flirting with her friends. He was such a playboy, it was disgusting.
“Not as gross as you and Rafe both putting your fingers down,” he countered back. “I am trying to erase that from my memory.”
“Please, it isn’t like they did it together,” Jada consoled Jason’s fake concern.
This game needed to end pronto. Someone bumped into the back of Jason’s seat, and his beer spilled all over him. Jada waved napkins, and he moved to her side of the table to get them to dry off. Rafe took the opportunity to sit in the empty seat next to Charlotte, and Jason sat in Rafe’s vacated seat.
“Thanks, man. I didn’t want to sit next to my sister all night. That’s like asking for a cockblock.”
“I think you can do that all by yourself,” Charlotte cheekily responded.
“Never have I ever had all my firsts with the same person,” Rafe said, getting back to the game.
This was a nightmare—and he was doing it on purpose.
“Like, first what?” Jada asked.
Rafe’s eyes met Charlotte’s. “First time around all the bases.”
“You know, first kiss, first time someone felt you up, first time you had oral, first time having sex.” Rachel gave them a mini sex-ed lesson. “I mean, there are more firsts, but those are the so-called bases.”
“Seriously, let me know when you want to go to camping,” Jason said to Rachel.
They continued drinking, and Jada said, “Who has ever done that?”
Rafe lifted his eyebrow at Charlotte, audacious enough to demand her to try to refute it.
“Me.” Charlotte was down to two fingers. “And I refuse to answer any questions about it. It was simply circumstance. Never have I ever gotten a tattoo.”
