“Shut the fuck up,” Soren growls, and that makes the two men laugh.

Laugh. At my beta.

Yeah. I don’t like them.

The taller of the two fiddles with an unlit cigarette between his fingers. “Oh, trying to be tough in front of the omega? The Pack?”

I grab the back of Soren’s shirt. All his nonsense about betas and omegas making sense now. His brothers… These two made him that way.

My omega howls to defend my beta, but when my eyes meet Neven’s, his head gives me the slightest shake no. His posture remains calm, arms crossed loosely and shoulders leaned against the booth’s backrest. Asher isn’t worried either. His eyebrows are raised in amusement, but he stays quiet.

If they aren’t panicking, then I shouldn’t either. Yet, I can’t get my fingers to unwrap from Soren’s shirt.

I turn away, Reed’s scent calming me down.

It’s fine. Soren is fine. I repeat the mantra in my head as I stare at my burger.

“Introduce us, brother.”

“No need.” Reed’s voice is sharp as he pulls me tight against him. “You’re free to leave Wolves territory while I’m asking nicely.”

“Oh, the other omega is giving orders now, huh? Isn’t it selfish to have two? Why don’t you give one to us, I swear we’ll take good care—”

“Leave,” Soren cuts them off. “Now.”

I retch at their words. As if I’d let them take Reed.

“I thought the Wolves believed in fairness? How is it fair you find an omega open to MC life and not let her see all her options?”

“I’m fine just where I’m at,” I can’t help but growl. I really didn’t mean to. The less-tattooed brother looks at me. His eyes glitter with intentions I want to know nothing about, and his smirk is not at all appealing.

His teeth have grime on them, and I can’t help but run my tongue over mine, thanking all my teeth for being in my mouth. And clean.

“Just sit with us for an hour, you’ll see how much better we are, darlin’.” I gag, and that makes Asher laugh a bit and my eyes meet his. His hazels stay on me.

Reed answers for me. “No.”

“Let the pretty kitty answer for herself.” The nickname is horrendous, and that was the nail in the coffin for me.

“Could you leave?” I ask, forcing my eyes to meet theirs. The same brown as Soren’s yet so different. The way they land on me, bright but heavy, so different it doesn’t even feel as if they could be related to my Soren.

How did he end up so… so perfect?

“We have a truce, so we can eat here. Isn’t that right, Red?”

Reed scoffs. “Go sit the fuck down and order something then,” Reed spits, turning away from them, ending the conversation.

“See you, little bro,” one says over his shoulder as they pick a booth exactly one over from us. I can smell their horrid scents still, wet cardboard and mildew.

I shake off their stares, as much as I can. Picking up my burger and taking a bite. Forcing any sort of normalcy I can. My Pack sits stiff and tense.

Neven is the next one to start eating, and that’s when Soren sits down again, scooting his chair closer to me. His cinnamon scent is slightly burnt, so is Reed’s, Neven’s and Asher’s, but they still smell worlds better than how it smells without them.

“They don’t get to ruin my date,” I mutter, stuffing a fry in my mouth.

“That’s right, Omega. They sure don’t,” Neven confirms and takes one of his fries, dipping it in ketchup and offering it to me. I lean forward, taking the fry with my lips. Reed exhales beside me, and I smile.

“My turn, Moonlight,” Asher says, offering his ketchup-covered fry and waiting for me. I blush but accept the perfectly fried fry.
