“Yeah, I had sex with Venom, up until you guys declared lockdown, and then he broke up with me. He told me it was all part of some game or some bet. What is it with you all? Why can’t you just ... leave women alone?” Morwenna said.

Bolt shook his head.

“Do you know what sucks about all of this, apart from the fact we’re going to die? You were my best friend, and when you hurt me, I had no one to go to. I was hurt and you broke me, but you’ve been my best friend for the longest time. You selfish bastard. Then, I found Venom, and he was the only person in the club who didn’t lie to me. Do you know how that feels? He didn’t lie, and then I started to have feelings for him, and I had no one to turn to, because you wouldn’t let me have any friends. Do you remember that, growing up?” Morwenna asked. “Do you remember Kendrick?” she asked.

He sighed.

“You beat the crap out of him for talking to me, and he transferred schools. You told me I didn’t need any other friends because I had you.” She laughed and shook her head. “What a freaking joke.”

“Wen, I’m so sorry.”

“Morwenna, that is my name,” she said. “We’re going to die soon, you might as well use it.”

“We’re not going to die,” Bolt said. “We’re going to find a way out of here.”

She needed him to be able to fight. Bolt groaned and climbed across the bed. She watched as he stumbled to his knees and collapsed on the ground. At the same time, she spun toward the door as someone tried the handle. They didn’t have a lot of time.

There was no escape, and Morwenna grabbed the lamp and threw it against the window, shocked that it smashed on impact. She let out a laugh, as they had a limited window of escape. Glancing down on the floor, she reached for Bolt, hauled him up, and she screamed because gunshot rang out. She tried to shove Bolt toward the window. He was too heavy to move.

Morwenna cried out, because this wasn’t fair. She had to get him to safety, and there was no way she would ever face Storm and Maverick again with the knowledge she might have killed their son.

It was no use. The door was snapped in half. The door flung open, and Morwenna grabbed a paperweight that was on the dresser, and the moment she spun around, she attacked, slamming the weight into the guy’s nose, and blood spurted from the wound.

Morwenna went to hit him again, but she was punched in the face. She fell to the ground with a grunt, and she tried to dodge the kick, but she wasn’t successful. She heard Bolt grunt at the same time, and she was pulled from the floor by her hair. Her cell phone was still in her pocket.

They were dragged from the apartment. She didn’t know if this was a good or bad thing. Fear raced down her spine as they were taken out of the apartment, and she had to keep up as they didn’t go via the elevator, but took the stairs.

Someone entered the apartment building and took one look at her. She didn’t know who it was, but they got shot between the brows, and his body fell into the bushes. Morwenna tried not to scream. She was shoved against a van and thrown inside. The same thing happened to Bolt and she gritted her teeth, as one of the men smiled at her.

“You know, it’s about to get very interesting, but it might save your life, if one of you were to die right now.” He held out a knife and tossed that into the van, along with one of the men who had a gun. He took a seat, the van was sealed up, and there was a single overhead light.

“This shit is getting worse, isn’t it?” Bolt asked.

“You’ve got to be quiet. Retain your strength.” Morwenna looked toward the guard, who only stared at them. There was no emotion. Nothing that gave anything away.

“You should kill me, Wen, kill me and give yourself more time.”

“Do you really think it is going to happen at the next stop?” Morwenna asked. She tried not to panic, but she was close to it. Her father had taught her and Bolt a lot.

It wasn’t long before the van was moving. She felt sick.

Bolt groaned and moved himself into a seated position. “This is not something we’ve been trained to do.”

He was sweating and she put the back of her hand against his.

Bolt reached out with a groan and picked up the blade. “Here, it’s the least I could do.” Morwenna was going to swat it far away from him, but there was something in Bolt’s eyes that made her pause.

She and Bolt had been together through thick and thin. They’d grown up together, and there was no denying he was trying to tell her something. Grabbing the knife, she held it within her grip.

“After all, I’m not going to give you that divorce.”

She held onto the blade tightly.

“You know, her pussy was tight but it wasn’t as tight as yours,” Bolt said. “No one would blame you for trying to kill me. They’d probably be happy to see an end to this. I cheated on you. You hate me. You can’t even stand to be in the same room as me. I fucked a woman who wasn’t you, but a club whore, who had been with all the other guys. She wasn’t clean, and you got an infection because of me. My death would be easy.”

Morwenna growled, shoving him away, then took a seat closest to the guard in the van. Bolt’s gaze was on her, and she knew he had done this on purpose. The guard, regardless of whether he showed it, was paying attention to them. He was listening to them argue and saw it as her being angry at Bolt, but also in love with him, so she wouldn’t use the knife.

Morwenna had never killed anyone. This was a matter of life and death. Her and Bolt’s lives. This man helped kill people. He might be direct or indirectly responsible for killing her father’s family.
