Using my key, I unlocked the door and entered the apartment. It was dark soon as I stepped through the door, so I assumed Luxe was still sleeping. I didn’t want to wake her to let her know that I’d collected her things, so I set the bags on the floor at her door and went straight into my bedroom to take a shower so that I could go to sleep.
I’d been in the shower for the last forty minutes and then got out and wrapped my towel around me. The shower lasted a bit longer than I intended, but the shit was relaxing. I just knew soon as I touched that bed, I was gon’ be knocked the fuck out.
When I exited the bathroom, I found Luxe standing in my doorway. She was wearing this leopard print two-piece pajama shorts set. Her silk black scarf was wrapped neatly around her head. Luxe’s eyes wandered my frame. Her lips slightly parted as her eyes came back to my face.
“I wanted to thank you for getting my stuff.”
“That was a lot of jewelry, Luxe.”
“I know. I’ve been collecting for years.”
That shit probably cost more than my net worth.
“You’re welcome.”
Luxe closed in on me. Her soft hands pressed against my damp chest. “You’re really willing to do anything for me, huh?”
“It’s all part of the job.”
“You sure about that?” Her hands glided up my chest and stopped at my shoulders. “I got a feeling that it’s a bit more than that.”
“And what makes you think that?”
“I see how you’ve been looking at me. I think you have a lil crush on me.”
She was the one to talk when she had her hands all over me, not the other way around. If I didn’t know any better, I’d think that she was the one crushing.
“If I had crush on you, I would’ve been acted on that shit by now,” I confidently made known.
Luxe snickered. “Not really, because you’re too young for me. I told you that you’re just a baby.” She patted my face with the tip of her fingers and stepped away from me. Gripping her by the wrist, I pinned her ass against the wall. Her chest glided against me as it heaved.
“What I told you ’bout calling me a baby? I’m a grown-ass man.”
She gazed deeply into my eyes. Her face lifted toward mine, but before she could kiss me, my phone rang. Releasing her, I removed it from my pocket and saw that it was Savion calling. Swiping the screen, I placed the phone to my ear.
“Yeah?”
“We got a hit. I’m flying out to check the shit out. I’ll let you know what I have.”
My eyes cut in Luxe’s direction.
“Okay,” was the only thing I said before I heard beeping in my ear.
“What?”
“Nothing,” I told her, not wanting to get her hopes up. If Savion came back with some information, then and only then I’d tell her.
A couple days later
I lay there, staring up at the ceiling in my bedroom. Thoughts of the other night kept replaying in my head. The way Ghost handled me and looked at me, . . . it had me so hot and bothered. I wanted to sleep with him right then and there despite the words too young and baby kept leaving my lips. I’d never yearned for someone as much as I wanted Ghost.
He was a baby in my eyes. I shouldn’t even have those thoughts about him. It just made me wonder what would’ve happened between us if his phone hadn’t rang.
After his phone call, I made my way back to my bedroom and locked myself inside, too afraid that I might just leave back out and find Ghost. The last thing I needed was for me to end up in his bed.
Things between us had been quite awkward ever since. We hadn’t been doing much talking. My phone vibrated. I looked over and saw that it was Sol calling me. Picking it up, I swiped the screen and placed it on speaker.
“Well, if it isn’t the trader. What you want?”
