I tried to keep my weight off her, but she had left me completely and utterly spent. The room smelled like sex, and I couldn’t keep my mouth off the naked flesh of her back, shoulders, and neck.

“Wow,” she breathed into the sheets, simply kicking her leg out, adjusting to my body half on and half off her. “That was… wow.”

“Hmm,” I agreed, kissing the shoulder I’d bit while caressing her arm with the tips of my fingertips as my pulse slowly went back to normal.

“You’re sweaty.” She yawned, obviously spent.

“You like me sweaty on you, don’t you, my little troublemaker.” She laughed, and instead of pushing me away, her arms pulled mine closer. I shifted us so we were back to spooning, her body perfectly tucked to my front. “Sleep.”

“Bossy,” she whispered with a sigh.

“Again, that’s not complaining.” My lips twitched. Silence fell between us for a long moment

“What about the rules?” she asked, half asleep, half awake.

“We’ll talk about the rules in the morning. Rest. I might want you again soon.”

“Mmm, okay,” she easily agreed, and even though I had just come, my cock jerked slightly at the possibility of getting back into the tightest, greediest pussy it had ever had.

I knew she was gone from my bed before I fully woke up.

And it sucked.

I wiped the sleep from my eyes as I glanced at her side of the bed. The sheets and pillow were still warm, but my place was too fucking quiet for her to still be around. She was gone, and her absence felt like a hole deep in my soul. It cut through me. Waking up without her next to me felt like I was missing a goddamn limb.

I might not know my troublemaker’s name, but I knew she was mine.

I rolled over onto my back and pressed the palms of my hands to my eyes.

What the hell was wrong with me?

I’d done the one-night stand thing more times than I cared to admit. But she wasn’t a one-night stand. She was something completely different. She’s mine, that territorial, possessive voice inside of me growled, and I couldn’t get myself to disagree.

She was mine. The problem now was trying to figure out who the hell she was.

I rolled out of bed and heard my phone buzzing on the ground where I’d left my pants. I reached for it to see who the hell was texting me so early on my rare day off.

Sam: Don’t forget you’re meeting my sister for brunch today. Maybe see if you can show her around Houston?

I shut my eyes. Me and my big fucking mouth agreeing to shit without thinking it through.

When Sam had called me, it had thrown me for a loop. We’d kept in touch after high school and through college. Visiting here and there whenever I went back home. But he had never been the one to reach out through the years other than in emails. So, when he’d called out of the blue, I immediately answered, worried something had happened.

Sam was a couple years older than me and almost like an older brother figure I’d never really had. We’d been close, those kinds of friends who had a past and whenever you touched base, it felt like no time had passed.

Before we’d hung up, he’d cleared his voice and asked if I could do him a favor. I had assumed he’d needed to borrow money, so I had agreed, and that’s when he’d told me about his youngest sister. Estella? Stella? Star? Fuck, I didn’t even remember her name.

She was new in town, and he wanted her to know that she could call someone if anything ever came up. I didn’t remember her. All three of his sisters were a lot younger than us, but I’d agreed.

Now, though? I regretted it. Maybe I could turn him down? Lie that a last-minute practice popped up and offer to send my assistant, Abel, to go meet her. He would be polite and respectful. Before I could type out the lie, another message popped up.

Sam: Seriously, man, I owe you. Big time! Stella’s the youngest and wildest, and now she’s so far from anyone she knows, it worries me. Knowing that she at least knows you there will give me peace of mind.

Well, shit. Now I really couldn’t turn him down.

Me: No problem, man. I got you. She’ll be okay. I’ll make sure she has my assistant’s info, too, since I’ll be hitting the road soon.

I pressed Send and got up. I turned to look at my empty bed and scrubbed my face, feeling the scruff on my jaw, knowing I was running way late and wasn’t going to have enough time to shave.
