No. they do not.
If we don’t figure out how to stop doing it, they are going to start punishing us and I don’t think they’ll be the fun kind, either, Upalo replied.
True, but we got lucky. We found our mates. We get a chance at a future.
He was right.
“How do you feel now?” Raven asked.
“Like my ears had been stuffed with cotton and now they’re not,” I admitted. “My dragon won’t stop chatting with Mattias’ and Caspian’s.”
“Good,” she said. “Don’t ask him to stop. Let him establish the connection he needs before you head out in the morning. The best advice I can give you is for you to enjoy this time with your mates.”
“I will,” I replied.
Easy advice to follow when all I wanted was to hole up here with them.
Soon.
My dragon’s whisper brought comfort. He believed that in the end we’d prevail though the battles would be long and hard fought. With a renewed vigor in our quest to right these wrongs, my dragon and I were on the same page. Mates now, save Torin tomorrow.
“Thank you, High Priestess,” I said, now that the conversation between dragons dialed down to a dull whisper.
That was unexpected.
Carrying on two conversations at the same time was actually really neat and beneficial. She smiled and I wondered if she knew what I was thinking.
“It was my pleasure,” she said, before waving on her way out the door.
“Do you still want to make snacks?” Caspian asked as he ran his hand up my back.
When had he moved?
I was distracted by all the sounds and access to feelings I’d never had before, including a level of frustration radiating from my dragon. He could guide us to Torin. He’d just been waiting for the chance.
“Yes, please,” I replied. “I just need a moment to stand here and collect my thoughts. I wish I could describe what this was like, but the words won’t come right now. My dragon is vibing with yours and there is this sense of relief and exhilaration rolling off him that’s overwhelming. “
“I feel it too,” Mattias said.
I turned into his embrace, wanting to smell him and see if his skin tasted like the ocean. I realized that hadn’t yet come to me because my dragon hadn’t been fully present the night I’d mated with them. Sighing, I nuzzled the spot beneath his ear, inhaling the lingering essence of sea spray that clung to it. My dragon purred then immediately got huffy about me calling it a purr, even though I knew good and damned well what a purr sounded like.
It was a rumble.
That sounded exactly like a purr.
Do not taunt me human, or I will share your ticklish spots with our mates.
They are your ticklish spots too.
I’m willing to take my chances to see you writhe.
Do I need to call Raven back and ask about a new wall? I threatened.
Try it and you’ll regret it, human.
Exactly what are you gonna do to me without doing it to yourself?
You will know when I figure it out.
