CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT - SADIE

“What?” I say, confused. What the hell was that? Sullivan’s voice is deeper. The jokes and fun are gone.

“Shit,” he says.

“What just—”

“Thomas,” he says.

Then his face changes. Not a lot. It doesn’t contort or turn into something I don’t recognize. But we’ve been through a lot together, so I recognize what’s happening.

“That’s right,” Thomas says, but to Sullivan, not me. “It’s me. What the fuck is going on? Why was I locked out? Why was I—”

“Dude,” Sullivan says. Holy shit, this is weird. “I didn’t lock you out. You’re the one who over-reacted when I surfaced again.”

“You,” Thomas growls back at… himself, “were supposed to stay buried. We made a deal, asshole.”

“A deal? That’s what you call it? You forced me down with drugs, dickhead.”

“What the—” Thomas looks down at our bodies. He’s on top of me, his bare chest pressing against my bare breasts. My wrists are still tied to the headboard with silk. But then he smirks. “Did I interrupt something?”

“Umm…” I have no idea what to say.

He flops over, but one hand rests on my breast. He squeezes it. “Were we done?” He laughs. “Or just getting started?”

“Umm…”

He smiles at me. Thomas. Wow. This is so strange. “It’s just me, Sadie. We’ve already had sex. I mean, before. Back at the tower. Are we at Lincoln’s?” He looks around, taking in the room. “I guess they finished the guest rooms. Never seen this one before. But this room has Molly written all over it.”

“Yeah…” I say, unable to form any coherent words right now.

“It’s weird?” he asks.

I nod.

“Too weird to deal with? Or just a little weird and you need a minute?”

I swallow hard as I try to get a grip on the situation. “Can you untie my hands?” I ask.

“We’re done with that?”

I nod my head again. “Please.”

He reaches up and releases one arm. Then leans over my body to release the other one. He smells like sex. Like me. My sex. All over his face.

He’s the same man who just ate my pussy like it’s delicious. Who stuck his fingers inside me and licked my clit. Who tied me up and drove me crazy.

And yet… he’s not.

He relaxes back on the bed. “Something’s wrong.”

“Yeah… well.” Shit. What the hell do you say in this kind of situation?

“Do you like him better than me? Is that it?”

“No,” I blurt out. “No, that’s not it.”

“I’m a freak? But by the way, you’re a freak too. So. You know. Wondertwins and all that good shit.”
