Reka

There were too many bodies in the conference room—too many large men, specifically.

Maybe I’m not as okay as I thought I was.

Reka clutched the coffee mug in her hand and inched closer to Ash, stopping when her shoulder touched his upper arm. He didn’t say anything, but moved protectively so his body was slightly in front of hers.

“Ms. Evans,” Thorne began.

“Reka,” she interrupted. Ms. Evans made her feel old.

“Reka. Quick round of introductions, since you probably don’t remember all of us,” he said, in his recognizably British accent. “I’m Thorne, and you’ve already met Luke Dark.”

Reka nodded. She remembered Dark. He had short hair and the bluest blue eyes she’d ever seen.

“You’re Alexia’s boyfriend. Please say thank you to her for the lasagna,” Reka said politely. “I would love to meet her later.”

Dark smiled.

“And Rogue, our computer expert.”

Rogue had stone gray eyes, and long hair that was tied back in a messy bun. Though he wasn’t as tall or broad as Ash, he also looked like a fighter.

They all look like fighters.

If any of the men knew she’d slept with Ash—and they probably did—they weren’t judging her for it.

The only one who was looking at her strangely was Thorne.

“And what do you do, Mr. Thorne?” she asked.

“Just Thorne,” he said, smiling a wolfish smile. “I’m the team’s liaison.”

“Liaison?” she asked. “Who do you liaise with?”

“Multiple people,” he said evasively. “Including your uncle. He would prefer if you were to fly home today,” Thorne said.

Aha.

So that’s why the man was acting strangely.

Beside her, Ash tensed imperceptibly.

Reka straightened herself to her full height.

“I’m not leaving,” she said, “until we find Chloe.”

Thorne sighed. “I feared you might say that. May I suggest you rethink—“

“No,” she said firmly. “You need to stop worrying about me and start worrying about Chloe.”

Dark stepped in neatly. “Overnight, Turkish and other European police forces freed twelve captive women and arrested five male guests. The rest fled before the police arrived.”

Reka clenched her teeth.

Bastards.

Rogue clicked something on his laptop and five pictures appeared. “These are the men who’ve been arrested.”
