Okay, this morning was surreal.
With my thumbnail, I scratched the middle of my forehead.
Savannah pointed to her face. “Come on. Hit me.”
A weird sensation unfolded inside me.
I swallowed.
In what reality did I land?
Fury spewed from her onyx-brown eyes.
“Carter,” she screamed, stomping her foot like an angry toddler. “Hit. Me.”
I inhaled and watched her as I shook my head. “I’ll pretend the last ten minutes didn’t happen. The plane leaves in an hour. You better get a grip on yourself. Or you’ll have to find your own way back home.”
“You can’t.” Her lips shuddered. “You can’t send me away.”
I shrugged. “Watch me. I have engagements and have no time to deal with your drama.”
I stepped aside, and Savannah followed all my movements with wide eyes.
“Oh, and by the way,” I continued, “don’t ever slap me again. This time, I dropped it. Next time, I won’t.”
She crossed her arms over her chest. “Or what?”
Poison coated every word she spoke.
Her eyes trained on me, but I said nothing, refusing to be a part of her tricks this time.
With a loud growl, she pivoted on her heels, out the suite, dragging her huge suitcases with her. “Fine. Go to hell.”
Fuck.
How many more sides of Savannah Prince actually existed?
The door slammed behind her, and for a long moment, I stood there, frozen, trying to make sense of the clusterfuck the last twenty-four hours had been.
My eyes were trained on the door, praying she wouldn’t change her mind and walk back in. After ten minutes, I called Ed, asking him to get new keycards and deactivate the old ones. Then I gathered my phone and wallet once the concierge came over to hand me the new room keys and met my security detail down the elevator.
With one last glance over my shoulders, I made sure Savannah wasn’t hiding somewhere, ready to follow me, then followed Ed to the car waiting for us, my head hanging low as I spotted paparazzi standing outside the hotel lobby.
“Carter, a picture…”
“Carter, who do you think is gonna win That Talent?”
“One picture, for your fans…”
“Over here, over here…”
“Tell us more about your relationship with Savannah Prince…”
One grabbed my jacket, and I barely contained my anger as Ed led me away before I could do something I might regret later.
Someone else got a hold of my elbow, and I yanked it away from their grip.
Another bodyguard flanked my side until I made it to the idling vehicle.
