She abandoned the plastic fork and knife and simply dove in to eat with her fingers, the way he was doing. And without question, it was the most delicious meal she had ever eaten.

She had no idea if it was the outdoor atmosphere or the fact that she had watched the meal being prepared, but it was so good that it had her licking her fingers, one by one.

“I could make us some more,” he offered lazily, amusement coating his voice.

“I’m full.” She stretched languidly before using the wipes to get rid of the smell and smear of fish from her fingers.

“And you had to bring out that cake. Now I’m like a stuffed turkey.”

“We could go for a swim,” he suggested. Rising lithely from the floor of the deck where they’d decided to have the meal, he started to gather up the trash.

“That would actually be swimming with the fishes. Or fish, or whatever.”

He had also brought out thick blankets and cushions. Fleetingly, she thought about how much harm it would do to lie down after such a meal, then shrugged it aside.

She was so comfortable that she was about to fall asleep.

“Or it could just be swimming.” He joined her on the blanket but sat propped back against the thick beam.

“Why aren’t you lying down?” she demanded. “Are you trying to make me feel bad?”

He cocked a brow at her and grinned.

“Why would you feel bad that I’m sitting up?”

“Because of the digestion issue. I don’t feel guilty.”

“Good for you.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

He laughed at the frustrated look on her spectacular face and slid down until he was facing her. “Better?”

“Much.”

“Good. Glad to be of service.”

“Thanks for the most delicious meal I’ve ever had.”

“Better not let Andre hear you say that.” He wanted to tuck the thick coil of hair behind her ear.

He was going to make his move and soon.

“Tell me about your project,” he said instead, to distract himself.

“Sure, you want to hear?”

“I wouldn’t have asked otherwise.”

She shrugged. “Just let me know when you get bored.”

“Fair enough.”

She had started making her list and contacting the people to do the renovations. The sale had gone through smoothly, and she suspected Craig had a lot to do with it.

He had insisted on representing her, of course.

“I’m calling it ‘Natural You.’”
