The cat meowed excitedly.

“Shit.” Seymour barked out a bitter laugh. “Looks like Mr. Heiss finally got himself one.”

“Why are you laughing? This is not good.” Sariel pouted. “It is very not good.”

“Everything is fine.” Mr. Heiss hissed. “Isn’t it, Indy?”

“I’m hungry and I still have to pee—” Indy yelped as Mr. Heiss pulled him back toward the door. “Hey! Bathroom break! Hello?”

“Not here.” Mr. Heiss didn’t let go. “We need to leave—”

“Wait.” Your Majesty spoke up again, daintily wiping his mouth off with a paper napkin. He frowned as he tilted his head and looked Indy up and down.

Mr. Heiss was frozen, though his arm was curled protectively around Indy’s waist.

Seymour and Sariel appeared equally concerned, completely motionless and staring at the Your Majesty man as if they were terrified of what was going to happen.

Only the cat seemed unworried, laughing and clapping her paws.

Your Majesty smiled suddenly, cooing, “Love your outfit. Your eyeliner. Mac?”

“Uh, yes.” Indy grinned. “Love yours. That eyeshadow is incredible.”

“Mmm, Urban Decay.” Your Majesty giggled. “I do so love mortal cosmetics. I admit they have become a weakness of mine as of late. I usually conjure my own, but doing makeup is fun!”

“Right. Letting your insides shine on the outside.”

Seymour made a small choking sound.

“Oh yes! I love that! Never thought of it that way. I’ll have to remember that.” Your Majesty hummed, smiled, and went right back to eating. He picked up a phone with a shiny bronze case. “My love, did you hear that?”

“Yes, darling,” a deep voice rumbled through the phone. “Makes me hunger for your delicious insides.”

Your Majesty squealed. “Talos! Such things you say.”

“Mmm, the things I’ll do.”

“Did you get the clamps? Please tell me you got the clamps.”

“Of course, I did. All I need now is you…”

Seymour and Sariel appeared relieved.

The cat was disappointed.

Indy still had no idea what had just happened, except he did have the distinct feeling he’d narrowly avoided some kind of danger.

A first this week.

“Now we’re going,” Mr. Heiss dragged Indy out the door and didn’t look back.

“Bye!” Indy waved, grunting as Mr. Heiss pulled him along. “So, uh, explanation?”

“Sariel and Seymour Madison. An angel who is my former employee and his annoying flesh bag who owns one of the Artifacts. The Hisan Inro.”

“That was the cat, right?”

“Yes, I believe they call her Day.” Mr. Heiss pushed Indy inside the limo.
