“I know, and everyone else will know it too.”
“Where is everyone?” The house was mostly empty. My chef went to relax for a bit while I took care of Isabella’s needs myself.
“I told them to beat it.” She gave me a questioning look. “Why? Do you not like my company?”
Her hand pressed onto my chest, rubbing my pecs. “I’m not saying that. I’d just expected your mansion to be loaded with staff.”
“They don’t make their presence known most of the time, especially now that I’ve brought my future wife here.” I’d never brought anyone home, so most of them were shocked even after being warned about Isabella before we arrived at the villa.
“Where are we by the way?” she asked
“Just outside Naples in my family vineyard I mentioned.”
“Ooh, so do you have your own winery?”
“Si. Do you want to see it?” I loved seeing interest in her eyes when it came to my home. I wanted to share it with her. We came from different sides of the world. I’d been to her hometown several times over the years, so I knew I’d have a lot of convincing if she loved the noise of the city.
“Sure. I mean I don’t drink, but I find it interesting anyway.”
“Good, we’ll be passing it on to our children one day when we’re old and grey.”
“Speak for yourself, they sell hair dye for a reason, buddy.” She winked and earned a kiss.
I couldn’t keep my hands off of her. I had to touch her every damn chance I got. My need was obsessive. “Fine, it does not matter. You will always be beautiful to me.”
“You’re going to make me fall in love with you.”
“Good. That is the plan.” Taking her hand in mine, we left the house and drove down to the winery just past the vineyards. We entered the restaurant through the main entrance so Isabella could get the feel of the place. “Amore, this will all be yours soon.”
“No, it won’t.”
“It will be ours,” I relented which seemed to appease her.
“Buongiorno, Signore DiMarco,” Santorini said, trying to hide the surprise of seeing me with a woman. He ran the restaurant and winery for me and was the best manager any owner could ask for.
“Buongiorno. My fiancée and I will be taking a tour.” He nodded and we walked through the main dining area as I described a typical day. Moving into the back, I showed the four dozen aged oak barrels we used for our wine.
“How many gallons does each barrel hold?”
“They hold sixty. We have ten oak barrels per year more or less depending on the yield of grapes.” I walked her around, showing her the dates stamped into the barrels. She ran her hand along the wood as she followed me. “We allow the wine time to age for no less than eighteen months, some we have aged for six years. Only half the barrels are used from each year so that some will be older when bottled.”
“It sounds so interesting.”
“Thank you. I want you to take in as much as you can about our future. Can you see yourself living here?” I slid my arms around her waist and pulled her to me,
She looked up at me with a soft, genuinely sweet smile. “I can see myself anywhere you are.”
“Good. Because that’s the way that it should be,” I whispered, dipping my head to taste her lips.
“What if I’d said no?” she questioned with a sass that deserved a slap on her pert, round ass.
“Then I’d convince you to stay. If that didn’t work, I’d tie you to the bed or handcuff you to me.”
Her eyes widened in shock and I thought I pushed her too far, but then she smirked and added, “Dang, I’d like to change my answer.”
“Too late, amore, but I’ll still take pleasure in convincing you to give me everything—including your heart.” I knew she wasn’t ready to profess her love and I wasn’t sure I’d believe her even though I was certain that I’d been struck by love the second she pushed the doors open.
I flipped her around and pressed her up against the rack of barrels, covering her with my own body. “What I’d like to do to you right here,” I whispered in her ear.
