I laugh at that. “That is a good point.”

“Your body is working overtime. As your coach, I’ve got to make sure you’re recovering and nourishing correctly.”

“All very valid points, Coach.”

“So what do you say?”

I think about it for a minute. Going on a date with him doesn’t sound terrible. I hate the monotony of going on dates, but I already know Logan. I know I like him, and I know we’ll both be getting lucky at the end of it. That reasoning has me agreeing to his proposal. “I suppose I could make myself available for dinner. When would you like to go on this date?”

“Sunday. I want you all day.”

“The original request was for dinner,” I say, raising a brow at him.

“Dinner will be included. And lunch. And maybe snacks. I want you to myself all day.”

“That’s pretty greedy for my only day off.” Truly, I can’t think of a better way to spend my day off, but I have to make him work for it a little.

“I’ll make it worth it, I promise.”

I try to hold back my smile, but I’m not sure it works. “Alright. I’ll pencil you in for Sunday.”

“No pencil. Use permanent marker. This is happening.”

I stretch my legs out and fold over to touch my toes to hide my excitement. “If you say so.”

A few stretches later, Max shows up and apologizes profusely for being late.

“If skating isn’t important to you, just say so, Max,” I tell him.

“Oh, shut up.”

He starts his stretches while I do a few more before I leave him to warm up on the ice. I notice that Logan doesn’t stay in the mat room with Max like he did with me. He follows me out to the ice, leaving Max by himself.

“You don’t want to help Max stretch?” I ask, as I lace up my skates.

“He doesn’t need my help,” Logan says.

“Oh, and I did?”

“No, but I like being around you, Savannah. And I want to make sure no one else is staring at your ass while you’re stretching.”

I laugh out loud. “You’re insane, you know that?”

“Yeah, I think I might be.”

I finish tying my skates and stand, coming face to face with Logan. His eyes dip to my lips.

“I wish I could kiss you right now,” he admits.

Every time he says something like that, it makes my whole body warm. It’s such a strange sensation for me. Wanting someone. But it’s a little bit scary, too.

“I wish that too.”

His hand moves ever so slightly, and his pinky wraps around mine, giving it a gentle tug. He leans in and whispers, “Have a good practice, baby,” as if he knows how much I like hearing him call me baby. Another thing I never thought I’d like.

I smile, and he releases my pinky before pressing his palm to my lower back to steer me out onto the ice.

Sunday comes quickly, and I somehow manage to dodge an invitation from Max to spend the day at the pool at his apartment. I blame it on Kelsey, but I have to tell Kelsey my plan. Otherwise, if Max texts her about it, she’ll probably rat me out.
