Without hesitation, I lean down, cupping her neck to kiss her. It’s slow and warming and fucking perfect. I’ll never get tired of kissing her perfect lips.

The three people around us clap, and I feel Willa smile against my lips.

We did it.

We fucking did it.

After everything we’ve been through, we found a way to come together to be our own family. Our life might not be exciting; we don’t have a ton of money or fancy cars. But we have each other. And Roman. And our future. Which right now is looking better than I ever thought it could.

A wave crashes against our feet, sending Roman screeching up the beach. The water is as cold as you would expect it to be in Iceland, even in the middle of summer.

I look at Willa, and she’s got a devious look on her face. Without having to ask, I know what it means. I grab her hand, and we run straight into the water. We hear the photographer laughing, telling us these will be great pictures. But we don’t care. We aren’t doing it for the pictures.

We’re doing it for us. A wave crashes into us, soaking us instantly. Willa leans her head back, laughing at the sky. I wrap my hand around her throat and pull her face toward mine, kissing her again.

My wife.

And then Roman crashes into me, and I lift him into the air. He’s laughing as I spin him around.

My son.

My family.

I’m so goddamn happy. And looking at their faces, they are too. It’s all we’ve ever wanted.
