Idiot.

I raised an eyebrow, “Isn’t that what your puck bunnies are for?” He didn’t respond, further igniting the urge to punch him. “Fine. Rule Number Two; keep physical contact to a minimum.”

There was a dangerous glint in his eyes as he leaned down slightly, bringing his face level with mine. "Isn’t the whole point of being together to I don’t know, be together?"

Before I was able to counter him, his bare hands wrapped around my waist and pulled me flush against his chest. Being this close to him, I couldn’t think. His gaze penetrated mine. “What kind of physical contact are you talking about? This?”

He leaned down, his gaze moving to my lips. Don’t do it, Kayden.

“Or this?” He whispered, and a part of me, a very small part, thought about his lips on mine.

I closed my eyes, anticipating the kiss, when his lips met my...neck. My eyes opened and he leaned back. A giant grin on his face. Fucker.

"See?" he murmured, his voice dropping an octave, continuing to hold me captive. "Our parents would’ve bought that. You look terrified. It's perfect."

I pushed him back, putting much needed distance between us. I couldn’t do this. He made it seem so easy, but it wasn’t. I was harboring a secret, and us pretending to fake date, wasn’t helping.

"Rule number three," his hand dropped back to his side, though his eyes never left mine. "While this deal is on, you’re mine.”

You’re mine. Barbaric much?

I narrowed my gaze. “What are you talking about?”

“No texting other guys. No flirting. And absolutely no fucking. While we do this, you’re in it with me until the end. Deal?” His voice turned threatening, like if I didn’t do exactly what he said I would be punished in some way.

“Fine.” I crossed my arms over my chest. “The same goes for you. No puck bunnies.” I raised a brow, “Think you can do that, Wolf?”

His eyebrows pulled together, it was almost comical to see him confused. “Wolf?”

I shrugged, “You call me mouse, it’s only fair. Don’t you think?”

He rolled his eyes, and came closer. His finger lifted my chin, a dangerous glint returning. My breath caught, and whether I wanted to admit it or not, he once again had full control.

“Deal.”

“I will break up with you,” I said. Since this was his idea, it should be my chance to get the fuck out when I wanted to.

“No deal.”

I lifted my hands in the air, “Why the hell not?”

“I’ve got too much riding on this going exactly the way I need it to go. There are scouts coming for the draft, Lex. You won’t fuck this up for me.”

Blood pounded in my ears as my hands went to my waist. “So my dreams don’t matter, right?”

Smile gone, the enemy was back. “What dreams?”

I huffed and skated to the barrier, getting off the ice and onto the mats. Not realizing he followed me, he turned me around and backed me into a wall, like a predator stalking his prey. His gaze locked on mine, flecks of blue darkening as his lower body pressed into mine.

“What do you want from me?” I swallowed, the loudness of it making me aware of how much I wanted him. No matter how messed up the idea was.

A smirk played on his lips as he leaned in to whisper in my ear. “I want you...to get off my fucking ice. You don’t belong here. You never will. So be a good girl and get back to your studies.”

He backed up, that devil smile playing on his lips, as he went to the locker room. I stood there, cheeks flushed, wondering why the hell I took that kind of embarrassment.

He was wrong. I did belong on the ice, and I would prove him wrong.
