Silently, thanks to ever faithful WD-40, he pushed the door to the men’s changing room open but found nothing.

He made his way about five feet down the hall and palmed the door to the women’s. Before he even opened the door, he heard a curse.

“Shit, Knuckles, what are we gonna do now?”

The voice was soft and feminine, but that didn’t make him loosen his grip on the bat. Who the hell was she talking to? A partner in crime?

Someone named Knuckles? What the hell kind of gang name was that?

His heart was a steady gallop in his chest, but he silently pushed the door open, grip tightening on the bat.

What the hell was he about to get himself into—

“What the fuck?” he blurted as soon as the door cracked open enough for him to see through.

A pair of stormy eyes darted up to his, pillow plush lips parted in a small O shape. Dark hair was pulled off a slender neck to the top of her head in a high pony.

But it wasn’t the strange omega kneeling in his bathroom that made his eyes widen.

It was the bright pink dildo in her hand, while the rest littered the floor. And beside him, a real live cat sniffed at a purple one that had rolled to a stop in front of his foot.

Motion caught his gaze, and he glanced up, tensed, but was too late. Something hard jabbed him in the side, and suddenly he was on the ground, staring at the ceiling, teeth clenched as volts of electricity shook him.

After all the shit he’d found in the changing rooms—fights, couples fucking, drugs— none of it could measure up to whatever the hell this was.

“Sorry, sorry, sorry. Shit.” Murmurs and curses filled the room around him as the Taser’s volts jostled his system. He swore even his bones shook, his jaw hurt from clenching his teeth, and he was pretty sure his heart was going to explode out of his chest.

Why me?

The woman was collecting her things from the floor frantically. It made her too distracted to keep an eye on Nic, but fuck if he was going anywhere soon. Did it have to hurt so much?

Still muttering apologies, the woman picked up toy after toy, eyes flicking to him every few seconds. The cat sniffed at his arm, and Nic closed his eyes.

Again… why me?

As soon as he could move, he did. Sloppily. Using the wall to pull himself up, he grabbed his bat.

And used it to hold himself up, barely. Real intimidating.

Was he going to hit her? Hell no, but he wanted to know what the fuck she was doing in here, and why the fuck she’d tased him.

As he stood, a piece of glass fell from the windowsill and clattered to the ground, shattering upon impact and breaking the silence.

She gasped and turned to face him, eyes widening as she saw him standing.

“So… hear me out,” she began, and lifted her hands in a show of innocence.

Nic arched a brow. He thought. Maybe. Was his face working?

“Can you put the bat away?” she asked, flicking her ponytail over her shoulder and lowering her hands. “It’s distracting.”

“Oh, the bat is what’s distracting right now?” he questioned, watching in bewilderment as she picked up a rainbow-colored dildo—knot included—and packed it in her backpack.

“Yes,” she answered him simply. “I found the window that way,” she said, waving a hand at the broken glass and the chilled breeze entering through the hole. One that just happened to be large enough to fit a small body through.

He narrowed his gaze.

“Then how’d you get in here?
