“How was the board meeting, son,” I asked mockingly. “Oh, it was shit. Thanks for asking. Considering you didn’t bother to show up or let me know that you couldn’t make it so that I could let our potential investors know.” He sneered at me, and his eyes were full of contempt. “Which made the entire company look like assholes, so bravo if that was your goal. All the while, you’re here fucking this desperate piece of ass. I thought your standards were higher than that.” I purposely looked down at Vicky then and rolled my eyes.

“Nash, please listen to me,” Vicky begged, and I shook my head. Unbelievable.

“Nash…please….” My father slapped her hard across the ass. “Shut up,” he growled, yanking her hair back hard enough that he could hook her mouth like a fish with his finger. It didn’t surprise me that she moaned.

I need to move out of here. If it didn’t make it harder to keep tabs on who he was meeting, who he had locked up, the number of new guards, overhearing conversations, or anything else I could dig up, I would’ve already been gone.

“Is this a power play to get in my head or some shit? If so, you’re failing. I never liked Vicky. Why would I give a shit that you’re fucking her?”

My father smiled, and I hated when he grinned at me like that. It always meant he knew more than I did, and I was going to end up with a sharp jab to the face.

“Am I failing? From where I’m standing, you’re the one who looked like you failed to re-schedule a meeting that everyone else knew about but the people you were supposed to notify. Oh, before I forget, son, I’ve decided that I’m going to marry Vicky.” If my jaw hadn’t been clenched so tight, it would’ve fallen open. “She gets to be your new step-mommy. Won’t that be fun?”

“You’re fucking joking, right?”

“Why do you think I’m fucking her without protection?”

“Sorry, I hadn’t noticed. It’s not like I inspected your cock.”

“Always so sarcastic.”

“Always such an asshole.” I smirked. He glared. If he wanted to hit me, he’d have to stop fucking her and stuff his cock away first. I doubted that was going to happen. “I’m really not sure how I’m meant to respond in this scenario, so I guess if you were going for shock factor, you get aces.”

My father shook his head and stopped fucking Vicky long enough to grab her jaw and force me to look into her eyes. She looked caught between terror and ecstasy. I couldn’t make the shit up that my father had done over the years, but this…this was a whole new level of low.

“You always miss the point, son. I have a meeting booked with Mr. Genovese next year to sign the marriage contract. Vicky here gets the power over you that she wants, and I get the partnership with the Italian mafia that I want. Win. Win.” He let go of her face, and she flopped on the desk again as he resumed fucking her.

This was not happening. “What are you planning with this? It makes no sense.” I couldn’t believe this was even a conversation, let alone that it was happening like this. Vicky was making that strange noise that reminded me of a barnyard animal and the weight of my gun under the jacket pressed against me. So tempting. I just couldn’t decide who I would kill first.

“Doesn’t it? Mr. Genovese is powerful and well-connected. This is the partnership I’ve needed to get a seat at the round table. I told Vicky that I would give her free rein over the businesses, including what role you will play in them, as long as she married me and produced a couple of sons.”

“This is about replacing me. Why, because I don’t cower when you beat me anymore?”

“No, son. It’s about power, and I needed to make a decision. I could either sign the contract between you and Vicky or between myself and Vicky. Giving my loose cannon of a son more power didn’t seem wise, so which do you think I chose?”

Son of a bitch. I wasn’t going to let this happen. Not a chance in hell was he doing this to me or making a mockery of my position by putting Vicky in charge.

I smiled and then laughed. Vicky looked up from the desk as she screamed in pleasure, and it only made me laugh harder.

“Game on, Lawrence, game on,” I said and walked out, slamming the office door behind me. He thought he was smart. He always thought he knew better, but I’d beat him at his own game. I had to. Losing was not an option.

Marching to my room, I walked in and quickly stripped down as I called Liam.

“Hey, what’s up?”

“Would you believe me if I told you that my father is fucking Vicky in his office and is planning on marrying her and pushing me out of the company with his new children? Can you picture me calling her Mommy?”

Liam was dead silent, and then he burst out laughing. If I weren’t so pissed, I would’ve been laughing along with him.

“Oh, Lawrence. He is always up to something. My father wondered if he was trying to make you look incapable today by not showing up for the investor meeting.”

I got changed out of the monkey suit and pulled on my jeans. “Yeah, he admitted to doing that. Does your father know why he and Ethan weren’t notified either?”

“He thinks Lawrence wanted them to witness your failure or because they’re not invested in his secret society BS. Either way, the result was the same with the investors. It made you look unprofessional and wasted their time.” Pulling on a T-shirt, I grabbed my hoodie. “On the plus side, I do know that Ethan smoothed shit over with them. You’re not supposed to know that, but he’s proving to be a good ally. So, what’s the plan?”

“Not sure yet, but I have a couple of ideas. Are you free to work on the new project? I have some anger I need to get rid of.”

“Sure, see you when you get there.” Liam hung up the phone. I pushed mine into my back pocket, tucked my gun into my waistband before heading out of the room, and locked my door.
