The sexual energy that was swirling around the room could’ve choked someone as surely as my hand.

“I’m going to bend you over the couch, and I’m going to complete the first phase of the ritual by fucking you so hard that you scream my name and my name alone. You’re a motherfucking McGregor and the head of your house. For the first time since I arrived, you’re acting like a cunt instead, so I’m going to treat you like one and use your ass like one.”

His nostrils flared as the muscle in his jaw twitched, but it was the heated look that told me there was zero fear.

“Aye. You’re da number one, and I be yours,” he said.

I could taste the truth of what he said in my mouth and feel the honesty in my chest.

Our lips crashed together, and like every other time we kissed, it was so charged that I wanted to devour him like my favourite dessert. Rhys’s hands reached around my body and grabbed my bare ass, and I wanted more. I was going to be selfish with him from now on. He wanted me to be the number one and show him who was in control? He was about to find out.

Breaking the kiss, I fisted his hair and pulled his head back, making him bend away from me.

“Do you know what it means to be the number two?” I growled out.

“It means dat you’re da final say in all Faction decisions,” Rhys said, and I shook my head.

“I don’t give a fuck about the Faction day-to-day shit. I don’t care about the political meetings unless you want me to partake. I’m talking about with us. From now on, I control your body, mind, and heart. They are all mine. I can feel you, as you can feel me, and even your lingering love for Mari is now mine. I’m not going to walk around bearing any part of your past, and you will not bear any part of mine.”

“Mari is no mistake,” Rhys said.

When he tried to pull his head away from my hand, I realized he’d taken it the wrong way. Gripping him harder and wrapping my other arm around his waist to hold him firm, I forced Rhys to stare me in the eyes.

“Yes, she is. Not her as a person, but what you two did to contribute to this confusion. You need to let the fuck go, and I’m going to work all of it out of your system. I’m not sharing any part of you. You’re mine, Rhys. You wanted me to be the number one and act like it? You want me to do what I want? So be it.”

Not able to take it anymore, I attacked his lips and pushed him back until he was bent at an odd angle over the arm of the couch.

White hot power rose between us and shimmered off the walls even though it was daylight outside. Rhys groaned in my mouth as I dominated his body. Pulling him up straight, I went to turn him around to make good on my promise when my phone rang. I looked over at the nightstand and scowled. The annoying thing had the worst possible timing.

“Are you fucking kidding me? No one calls me.”

Ignoring it, I kissed Rhys again and began balling up the heavy kilt in my hands when the phone stopped ringing, then immediately started up again. I growled as the two of us stood there with our foreheads pressed together. Once again, as soon as it stopped, it started all over again.

“Ya better git dat. Could be important.” Nothing felt as important as this right now, but I also couldn’t stand listening to the thing ring.

“Son of a fucking bitch. If this is nothing, I’m going to kill whoever is on the other line.” Marching away from Rhys, I saw my brother Devlin’s name on the display. “This better be fucking good,” I said and turned around to look at Rhys.

The door was open, and like a magician, he’d disappeared. Irritation filled my chest.

“You’re going to want to sit down for this,” Devlin said.

Sitting was the last thing I wanted. I looked down at my cock and mentally screamed every foul word I could think of. Rhys was mistaken if he thought he could hold me off. I was going to make him mine today. The two of us were completing phase one if I had to tie him up to do it. I had visions of him running for the hills and the image Mari had shown me going up in smoke. No way in the dark fade was I was letting that happen. Nothing else seemed as important as making the three of us come together.

Rook

“What the hell do you want? I was right in the middle of something really fucking important,” I said and sat on the edge of the bed.

“Still a ray of sunshine, I see. Do you think no one else has problems in their life?”

Shaking my head, I leaned forward, so my arms were on my knees.

“It’s already been a day. What’s going on?”

“Are you sitting down?”

“Yes, I’m fucking sitting down. Just get on with it,” I said, trying my best to keep my voice calm and even. It wasn’t Devlin’s fault that Rhys and I had decided to play the game of role reversal. How did I end up being the one who wanted the triad, anyway?

“You know that girl I planned on killing?” Devlin asked, and I shook my head.
