“To the couch,” I murmur through the kiss and step backwards.
“Sorry, my love.” His new endearment warms me, and I can’t fight a dopy smile. “I need to head into work early so I can get home and hover above you instead of spreadsheets.”
“I can be spread on the sheets.” I smirk, lifting his shirt I’m wearing to expose my naked body. “Please, my body is literally aching with need.” I have no idea how, with him keeping me up half the night, but I’m desperate for more. “Just rub me quick.” I sit on the couch and open myself up to him.
“Fuck, Josie.” He reaches down in an attempt to relieve his own building need and shakes his head. “Hold off until tonight.” His eyes darken with a wicked grin.
“Look at me.” I dip my finger inside myself. “I’m dripping for you.”
“This is gonna be quick, Josie.” His dick whips out in record time, and his hands rest on the back of the couch. “Rub yourself for me.” He slides in with a punishing pace until I come undone, crying out once again in newfound pleasure.
“Let’s add this into our new morning routine.” I smile, feeling floaty as he withdraws.
“I’m sure it can be arranged.” Emmett finishes getting ready and leaves for work, giving me one last kiss before he goes that keeps the smile on my face.
I take a shower as my phone dings with my group too hungover to hike. Thankfully, they feel guilty and don’t ask for a refund. The book on the counter next to my laptop catches my eye, and a strong urge comes over me. I grab my laptop and curl into the couch. A crappy previous page stares back at me as my fingers hover above the keys, tempted to delete it. I’ve read hundreds of books, but have never attempted to take writing my own seriously. Inhaling a deep breath, I delete a handful of pages and begin typing the only situation I can spin into a semi-fictional world. My fingers move rapidly against the keys as the story comes to life.
The ring of my phone jolts me out of my writing trance. Has it already been four hours? I swipe my screen on Emmett’s name.
“Hi! Sorry, I’ll be right down.” I shut my laptop and bolt toward the door.
“Relax. We have an hour.” We agreed the other night in bed to continue quality time together outside of the bedroom. Which means I should be in the lobby waiting for him to meet me there.
Stepping off the elevator, I nearly crash into Emmett as he waits. His eyes widen as his arms steady my shoulders. “Chill, little darlin’. I thought I’ve done more than enough to keep you relaxed.”
“Oh, my goodness, I have been writing all morning. I think my story is finally coming to life.” Now all I need is a happy ending for it to be complete. Emmett raises his eyebrows in surprise and joins me, smiling.
“Look at you go, little darlin’.” He pinches my nose playfully. “I’m excited to see what your little mind creates. I knew you could do it.” His hand laces with mine as we make our way downtown to the café and place our orders.
“You’ve still never told me why you prefer peppermint tea over espresso.”
“I know it’s dubbed as a fancy drink and marketing makes it look so sophisticated. I always associated it with elite people. Yet, I could never relate. I never felt good enough to leave that rich, smooth effect when meeting people. I’m the type that left people with the jitters or a bitter taste in their mouth.” I rest my head on his shoulder, not realizing how deep this actually went. “Mint tea is refreshing. It’s a subtle reminder of the person I strive to be. Maybe one day I’ll be the hype someone needs.”
I purse my lips and nod against him, unsure of what to say. Our drinks and sandwiches are called out, breaking the moment. We head back to the downtown streets and find a spot to sit and eat.
“Thank you for opening up to me.” I smile, embracing this perfect day. The sky is clear, the birds are chirping all around, and Emmett is now more than just an asset to win over my parents. Who clearly love him more than me.
“You’re my peach tea.” He smirks into his drink.
“I’m a drink?” What now?
“Yeah, for one, your ass is plump and peachy. And you’re sweet. Refreshing. No one says no to peach tea. It’s a happy drink.” Shaking my head at his nonsense, I laugh along with him.
“Well...” I pause as my mind goes blank. “I haven’t thought of what you are yet. It isn’t every day I think to compare people to drinks.” We finish our lunch, kiss goodbye, and I head back up to the suite to pound the keyboard.
Emmett:
I’m looking forward to our lunch date and morning quicky tomorrow. <3
Smiling, I finally feel somewhat content with life.

“Here? Tomorrow?” My voice rises with each question as I process how to reschedule my day today. “It’s fine. We can have a gift ready by then. What is she naming the baby?” I didn’t have much time when we visited California to talk to his sister, and now the last-minute trip to see the hotel grounds and visit us has me scrambling for the perfect baby gift and arranging our suite to look like the perfectly settled couple we are.
“She never mentioned a name, and stop stressing.” He pinches my nose with a smile. “We probably won’t see them much. Kelsie and Max are here to see the grounds. I’d like to spend some time with Adam and my niece and nephew.”
“Is Lauren coming too?” I do enjoy the texts we exchange from time to time.
