“I’m going to ask something, and it’s big. If you can’t do it, I completely understand, and I’ll regroup and figure it out.”

She waited.

Already, she suspected what it would be.

“He can’t live there with what happened in their bedroom. Can we move him into our home with his daughter? Sophia is going to need normalcy, and so is Ridge. Jo, too?”

She considered that.

“I mean, I was going to suggest it. Am I worried I’m going to find my husband naked in bed with Ridge? I’m a curious cat, Lucian. I know me. If that happens, I’m making popcorn and watching the show. Who the hell are we kidding? I guess that is my kink.”

He laughed.

“And there she is again. Wickedly inappropriate, but absolutely valid at the same time.”

She snorted.

“We good, Lucian?” she asked.

He held her.

“We are now,” he stated. “Now that I’m not losing my wife to this, I think I can be strong enough to carry Ridge through this loss.”

She played with the wedding ring on his finger.

“Is it different or the same?” she asked.

Deep down, he knew what she was asking, and he gave her the answer.

“It’s both. It’s different because I wander around my wife’s hot playground. With Ridge, in the static, he was playing on mine. With what happened, I didn’t get to experience it in the present time. I was stuck in the static, but my body here was on autopilot. I only know we fornicated because Ridge finally admitted it, and I saw the evidence on his thighs.”

She got it.

“I like when you leave evidence on my thighs.”

He laughed.

“Oh, well, you and Ridge have a lot in common then,” he admitted. “As for me, I also like leaving evidence all over both of you,” he said, testing the boundaries to see if she was really okay with this.

When she snorted, he relaxed.

“We’ll figure it out, Lucian. Until then, we should probably sleep. Tomorrow is going to be a long day filled with, I’m sure, nonstop chaos.”

Oh, he knew she wasn’t kidding.

When she got out of his lap, he stood and held her hand in his.

“I promise forever,” he said. “I know I broke a promise, but I’ll never break this one.”

She hoped not.

“You didn’t do it intentionally. I get that.”

He hoped so. There was no scenario in the world where he would willingly hurt his wife.

As they headed out of the meditation space and into their home, it was silent.

Truthfully, Lucian didn’t like the way it felt. He wasn’t sure if he was hyper aware because of what had happened hours ago next door, or if Avalon being there was making his gifts twitchy.
