She sighed. “I know. I’ve been thinking about what you should do.”

“You have?” I couldn’t hide my surprise. I felt so alone in this that I didn’t think anyone else cared.

“Yeah, and the only thing I can think of is to come clean. Tell him everything.”

I nearly choked. “Everything?”

“Yeah. Your sister did it.”

“And he ran.” I reminded her.

“But he came back.”

“What if Liam doesn’t?”

“If you don’t take a chance, that’s going to end up happening no matter what.”

“I was hoping you had a better solution.”

“Nope. Same one you have because you know that’s all you can do.”

Crap.

“Do it now.”

“No way!”

“Why not?” I couldn’t think of a valid excuse other than I was scared. “Call him when you know he has a chance to talk and tell him.”

I thought through his schedule. He should have a few hours now. “Fine.”

“Really?”

“Yeah…”

“Do it, girl. Let me know how it goes!”

“Okay.” I hung up and stared down at my phone. I had to do it.

Now.

Nooooooowwwwww.

My hands wouldn’t move.

Really, I was trying but they refused to function. They would not find his number. They protested making the call.

If I didn’t call and tell him everything, I’d lose him for sure. Sophia was right.

Before I could change my mind, I found his name and selected a video call then nearly dropped the phone when he answered.

“April, I was just thinking of you. I’m glad you called.” His beautiful smile instantly lifted my spirit.

“You are?”

“Yeah. I wanted to talk.” His eyes seemed to be searching my face.

I tried to hide my reaction, but oh boy. Those were words no one ever wanted to hear. Instant panic and dread filled my body from my toes.
