“Cam?” Basher’s voice shouted through the phone, pulling Cameron out of his panic-induced stupor.

He couldn’t breathe.

He couldn’t focus.

Basher’s voice on the phone kept shouting, demanding that he respond and tell him what was going on.

He needed to breathe.

But the guy was here! At his place!

Or he had someone deliver the package.

He didn’t know.

He didn’t…

As he tried his hardest to focus, the sound of Basher’s voice in his ear got louder—closer and more distinct.

His panic was starting to subside.

Cameron closed his eyes, trying to catch his bearings.

“Ye-yeah, I’m here.”

“What’s going on? Did someone send you something? Don’t open it!” Basher said quickly, all in a panic.

“Too late. I already opened it and read the threatening card.”

“He threatened you? Don’t move. I’ll be right over! Stay on the line in case something happens.” Then there was a pause.

"Bash?" Cameron asked, suddenly all too aware that Basher was suddenly quiet on the phone.

“Are you sure you’re alone in the apartment?” Basher’s voice was bone-chillingly calm.

Cameron’s eyes went wide, and his breath caught in his chest.

He hadn’t even thought about that.
