Heat swells between my thighs, and I snatch the sweater from his hold, then pull it on to distract myself.

He is standing right before me when I pull my head through. And he slides his warm hands against the back of my neck as he pulls my hair free from the sweater. “I will find you later. Okay?”

I bite my lip, then nod.

I’m still freaked out over whatever is happening to me. Between us.

But I feel much more clearheaded today than I did yesterday.

I feel like me.

And… I still feel the pull to Volik.

The pull to be near him.

To kiss him and touch him and let him touch me.

The brain-melting desire is still sizzling through my blood. A roaring lust is still pulling us together. But I don’t feel drugged.

I can feel my emotions plainly.

And they feel like mine.

“Tonight.” His mouth pulls into a smile. “Have a good class, Ms. Novak.”

“Quit it,” I exhale.

Hearing Volik say Ms. Novak in his deep voice…

I shift, glad I have my thick sweater back on so no one can see my pebbled nipples.

His nostrils flare, and he drops his head back and groans, “Nix.”

I poke my finger into his hard stomach. “Don’t Nix, me. This is your fault.”

His hand engulfs mine, keeping it against his body. “Skip class.”

The laugh that pops out of me surprises us both.

Volik grins down at me.

It should be scary. This huge man looming over me. Wearing some old hooded black robe. Black horns sticking out of his head. Black eyes locked on mine. And a smile that shows off his long, sharp fangs.

But he’s not scary.

Not to me.

He lifts his brows, silently asking why I won’t just leave.

“I can’t skip class. It’s only my second day here.” I heave out a breath. “Not to mention the fact my class is twice the size it’s supposed to be.”

“What do you mean?”

I lift a shoulder. “Pretty sure they saw the videos from yesterday and came here hoping to see… something.”

Volik raises his voice. “Would you like me to handle the trespassers?”

I mouth the word trespassers back to him, trying not to smile, then lift my own voice. “I’ll let you know.”
