Warren moved his lips to my cheek and then down to my neck, sending an explosion of tingles all the way down my body. I groaned and pushed back against him, needing to feel him even deeper, and he took the cue, sliding himself right into me up to the hilt and holding himself there, letting me enjoy the feel of his perfect cock inside of me.
The two of us were rocking together as he held himself there, not moving in and out, but back and forth, grinding in circles against one another as we both came closer and closer to the edge. I grasped his face in my hands, gazing into his eyes, drinking in the sight of him. No matter what had happened, no matter what we had been through, this was our way back to each other, this physical touch that linked us beyond anything else. I would always crave this from him, and I could tell from the look in his eyes that he felt the exact same way, too.
“Mmm,” he moaned, grazing his tongue along my bottom lip as he moved inside of me. I could already feel my orgasm growing, all the emotion of the last few days driven in to this one moment—this promise that we were really back together again.
I felt him starting to stiffen inside of me, his body tensing and his breath starting to tear out of his lungs. I knew he was close to the edge too, and my body seemed to slow for a moment, as though matching his pace. I wanted us to come in the same moment, to forget about everything but this, right here, right now. All that mattered was that we had found each other once more, and I wanted to leave the rest of the world outside this room for just a little longer.
He drove himself into me one last time and held himself there, pressing his head into my neck and inhaling deeply like he was gorging himself on my scent. The feel of him finishing inside of me, his cock twitching as he filled me with his seed, was all it took to take me over the edge myself. I cried out, the sound filling the small room around us, bucking back against him. I could feel the tremors of pleasure tingling to the very edges of my system, and the eyes began to blur as the orgasm got the better of me.
He held himself inside of me for a long time, not moving an inch—but then he turned his head and planted a kiss on the corner of my mouth, smoothing my slightly sweaty hair back from my face as he gazed at me.
There was a softness in his eyes, and I could tell what he was going to say to me before he said it. It was the same thing I had been thinking ever since I had been taken. Being apart from him, being pulled away from him as brutally as I had been, had solidified something in me I hadn’t been able to deny. I loved him. I loved him so deeply and so totally it seemed to fill every cell in my body with a warm, healing light—and when I looked into his eyes, I knew there was no way I could hide it any longer.
“I love you, Lily,” he told me. He was still inside me when he spoke, and it felt right for us to be that close. When I shared these precious words with him, I wanted to be as near to him as I could—to show the world that we would do anything it took to find each other again, no matter what pulled us apart.
“I love you too,” I whispered back. He gazed at me for a moment, a small smile crossing his lips, and then pulled out and kissed me again.
“You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting to say that,” he told me. “When I was in prison, all I could think about was telling you how I really felt, and I was so scared I was never going to get a chance to.”
“That’s not going to happen,” I replied firmly. “We’re never going to have to be apart again.”
He gazed at me for a moment. I could tell he wanted to believe me. He had been locked away in a jail cell, facing the kind of charges that I knew would have chilled him to the bone. We had both been through so much in the last few days, but we had found our way back to each other, and that was all that mattered.
“Exactly,” he agreed, and he wrapped his arms around me, pulling me into his chest. “You should get some sleep, Lily. You look exhausted.”
“Wow, thanks,” I joked, and he chuckled.
“That’s not how I meant it...”
“I know, I know,” I replied. “I was wandering through the forest for hours. I guess I’m not exactly going to be looking my hottest.”
“You always look hot to me,” he replied. I laughed.
“I’ll hold you to that,” I shot back.
“What does that mean? That I get to hold you?” he replied. I shook my head. My mind was in such a mess from the tiredness and the emotion, it seemed a miracle I was even able to think straight.
“I’m not even sure,” I admitted. “I think you’re right. I need to sleep, or I’m going to lose it.”
“Rest,” he murmured, planting a kiss on the top of my head. “I’m right here. You have nothing to worry about.”
I closed my eyes and snuggled into him. I wasn’t sure how long that would be true for, but maybe all I had to focus on right now was that he was right. Warren was beside me, my mom was going home, and Silver was resting a few feet away right now. I had gone from being sure I had lost everything to finding out that everyone I cared about had made it out in one piece.
And now we were forming a plan to strike back at the McCarthy family—and make them pay for what they had done to us.
Chapter Twelve
Lily
––––––––
WHEN I WOKE, IT WAS dark outside, and Warren was still sleeping next to me. The relief of waking up beside him was intense, and I reached out to brush his hair back from his face, smiling as I watched him for a moment. He let out a groan and shifted toward me, his hands reaching for me even as he slept.
I dropped a kiss on his lips and quietly slipped out of bed. I didn’t want to wake him. After spending all that time in prison, he was going to appreciate a comfortable bed, even one attached to a stable. He deserved to rest.
I probably could have done with a little more peace and quiet before I went back out into the world again, but I knew there was no way I could have just lain in bed when I would have been tossing and turning the entire time. I was already thinking about Silver. I wanted to see how she was doing, how she was recovering—Grace had said she was going to be okay, but I needed to lay eyes on her for myself and make certain of that before I could fully trust in what she had told me.
I slipped out of the bedroom and headed to the clinic in the stable next door. Silver was already awake when I arrived, and she lifted her head happily and leapt off the bed to greet me.
