She grunted in satisfaction and settled into me, and I sighed... and then bent slightly and pressed a kiss to her hair.

I’d just have to wake up before anyone else did. That was all.

CHAPTER 12

SARAYA

I turned to him and lifted my mouth to his, begging for the thing he’d been withholding from me. He didn’t require anything more than that, his lips coming down over mine like he’d been waiting his entire life to possess me. I moaned, taking his tongue into my mouth with pleasure and twining my arms around his neck, my body tucked into his much larger one. Damn, had I ever fit this well with anyone before? He was so much bigger than me, so strong and tall that I barely came up to his shoulders, my nose fitting right into the hollow at the base of his throat.

And it was perfect. More perfect than anything I’d ever felt before.

Until he turned me on my back, used his leg to spread mine, and pressed into me, his eyes on mine as his cock slid in to the hilt, filling me until I gasped and squirmed.

“Knight,” I gasped, unable to do more than manage the name. My body was a bundle of nerves and feelings, everything centered on that point of joining. I couldn’t think past the pressure inside me... or the realization that Knight Curtis was making love to me right now.

“Baby,” he moaned, pulling himself out and then sliding slowly back in.

The feeling was so exquisite, so wonderful, that I simply arched against him, my breath coming faster as I begged for more. And he gave me more. More and more and more, harder and faster and—

I woke with a gasp in the darkness, mind frozen on that last thought and incapable of telling whether I’d been dreaming or remembering. Was that a dream? Or had we actually...

My eyes flew to my left and I saw Knight there, fast asleep, his hair mussed like he’d been there all night.

Oh shit. Oh shit, shit, shit! What the hell was he doing in my bed? How had he gotten in here, and how long had he been here? I wracked my brain, trying to remember how this had come about and whether I’d somehow initiated this. I hadn’t, had I? I wouldn’t have.

It would have been far too dangerous.

And then I remembered. I’d been dreaming about Devil, about the last time we’d been together. Remembering. Remembering the things he’d said and how angry he’d been, and remembering the feel of his palm across my face. His boot in my ribs. His fists in my back.

I’d been screaming in my dream.

And then Knight had been there, telling me that I was safe and that he was right there. And I’d clung to him like a child clinging to the only safe place they’d ever experienced. He’d tried to leave, but I’d held on to him even harder.

I’d asked him to stay, and he’d agreed.

And then... nothing. I didn’t remember anything else until that dream—and waking up here next to him.

And by the time I was finished going through all of that, his eyes were open, and he was looking at me, his eyes nearly as confused as mine felt.

“Why are you in my bed?” I whispered.

His lips turned up in a small smile. “In my defense, I tried to leave. You wouldn’t let me. You’re very strong for such a small person.”

I took the offering. “You have no idea. Try fighting me for chocolate chip cookies sometime. How did you end up in my bed in the first place?”

The smile disappeared. “I heard you screaming and came to make sure you were okay.”

Shit, he’d heard me? “And then I asked you to stay,” I finished for him, remembering the rest. “And you did.”

“And I did. I didn’t want to leave you alone in case you started dreaming again.”

I didn’t tell him that I had started dreaming again—and that it hadn’t been about Devil. It also hadn’t been a nightmare. I figured there were some things he just didn’t need to know. It would just make things even more awkward. Yes, I wanted him. Wanted him badly.

But that would just make an already-bad situation even worse. We couldn’t do anything like that. Hell, I didn’t even know if he wanted to.

Better not to think about it at all.

“Now that it’s getting light, though, I’d better get back to my room,” he murmured, bringing me back into the present.
