was the God from my dark dream.
The one who had destroyed my father’s
entire palace with a single hand.

A GODDESS OF ORACLES AND FALLING STARS PART VI
The Voices in My Mind
were slowly building to a crescendo.
A collective scream was coming;
I could feel it and I clutched
Styx’s hand tighter.
Calm yourselves, I said to the voices,
I cannot hear what you are saying.
They knew when they spoke
one above the other,
their words were no different
to me than the calls of angry crows.
But looking at Metis
and the strange God at her side,
I could understand what they were saying.
Danger lurked in every corner here.
And something was deeply,
catastrophically wrong.
A Reflection on Metis
I had seen it in her as a child.
The capacity for a deep rage.
The first time was when
she had just started walking.
We had been sitting
on the sandy shores
outside my father’s palace.
