Then, without moving his head, he looks at me from the corner of his eye and slowly bites his lower lip.
My eyes widen.
What the hell is wrong with him?
Seriously, does this psycho get off on being hit?
“We'll deal with that later,” he says. “For now, you're going to eat and stop assaulting my men with food.”
He straightens and grabs my wrist still hanging in the air, yanking me upright so abruptly I yelp as my knees threaten to give out beneath me.
Before I can react, one arm slides beneath my knees, the other behind my back, and suddenly I'm off the ground.
“What the—”
“You're coming with me to get food,” he says, already walking. “Then you're sleeping. You finish my car tomorrow, and once it's done, you're getting the fuck out of my sight.”
I twist and struggle, trying to wrench myself free, but his grip is iron.
“Keep squirming like a worm and I'll drop your ass,” Evren warns. “I'm carrying you because you're weak, and I don't like weak, useless people.”
CHAPTER 30
Evren
Gladiator - Jann
Riven sleeps so peacefully. After arguing with her all over the Lower Layers to find a fucking restaurant she approved of, she inhaled her food and promptly fell asleep with half of it still in her mouth.
I had to fish it out before she choked.
Because I don’t want her dead and I definitely don’t want her choking on anything besides me.
I shake my head at the thought, I hate her.
Why would I think of her like that?
I don’t want to see her ever again after she fixes my car.
I wanted her dead.
Now I kill for her.
She ordered some stupidly expensive burger—nearly costing me a hundred credits because her Highness wanted real meat.
She keeps testing me.
I don't think she understands she's not testing my patience anymore.
She's testing my sanity
I should make her fix my car and be done with it.
That's it.
Except I can't seem to stay the fuck away from that hatred she carries for me.
That stubborn refusal to bend, even when she should. Every time she fights me, I find myself wanting to push harder just to see how far she'll go.
