I’ll give her something she won’t be able to ignore.

I hurl my comm across the garage.

It nearly takes off one of my members’ heads before smashing against the far wall.

Every conversation dies instantly.

Every head turns toward me and, almost as one, they take a step back.

Even Neo keeps his distance.

I stalk over to Varek and hold out my hand. He doesn’t ask questions. He just drops his keys into my palm.

I turn and walk out of the garage, slamming the door behind me hard enough to leave a crack running through the metal.

I’m going to find her.

I’m going to make her fix my car.

And then we’re going to have a conversation about what happens when she thinks she can ignore me.

CHAPTER 24

Istare up at the ceiling of my loft, lost in thought. Trying to come up with the perfect plan.

One that won't get me caught by any of his dogs—or by him.

Maybe I should pretend to be his girlfriend.

Or a consultant hired by his gang so I can get close enough to steal his merchandise.

Either way, I'll need to be convincing. Convincing enough to make him believe I don't hate his guts.

Suddenly, a sharp voice cuts through the apartment, followed by a blaring alarm.

Fire detected. Walk slowly to your nearest exit. The Fire Enforcers have been notified. Please remain calm.

I whip my head toward the stove.

My fucking pan is on fire.

“No! Fuck!”

I bolt off the couch, grab a cushion, and sprint to the kitchen.

Without thinking, I slam it down over the flames, trying to smother them.

The fire sputters.

I grab the handle of the pan.

Instant regret.

“Shit!” Pain shoots through my hand.
