She walked towards the front door, only stopping to turn around so she could glare at me. “Is that why you were trying so hard to keep me awake, huh?”

“I’m not good at planning funerals but next time, I’ll be sure to make an exception for you.”

She yanked the door open and slammed it shut behind her—making me laugh softly as I sank into the couch.

My hit list had grown considerably over the past few months. At the very top sat not one, but two Special Agents who needed to be dealt with accordingly.

They were two of many. For now, the others weren’t major threats.

Yet.

I watched the live surveillance footage, observing countless people as they went about their lives, blissfully unaware that I was watching.

They moved, laughed, spoke, loved—never once considering the possibility that someone was observing them from the shadows.

I had been in those shadows for nearly twenty years.

Ares was currently still on bed rest while we were tirelessly trying to find any other information on Dominion.

This seemed to be a recurring pattern.

Whenever we made progress, it would lead us absolutely nowhere.

There’d been reports on this exact case but it never reached the light of day because those case files had been discarded which again confirmed our suspicions of someone working on the inside.

This syndicate was responsible for drug trafficking, kidnapping, illegal distribution of firearms, and cold-blooded murder.
