“I may need her for the police at some point, but for him… I don't think anything legal will work for him. He’ll probably need some special treatment.”
The info broker’s words ran through my mind.
Guys like this hate it when their dirty laundry is aired. If anything else happens to… damage his reputation, it would likely be the end of it.
Sloan nodded.
“Do you need any help with it? Make your decision fast because it looks like Liz is going to be gobbled up soon. And I don’t mean Lillian.”
Sloan jerked her head to the right. I followed the movement to see someone I never expected to see in a place like this.
Her ex. Staring right at her. Liz hadn’t noticed yet.
My entire body went on high alert.
Fucking asshole. The more I knew about him, the angrier I got. And it only got worse the more he tried to ruin my life with his petty lowlife connections.
I needed to deal with him. Fast. If I let him continue jerking us around like this, it might make him even more confident.
Time to hit this guy where it hurts.
This was just the thing to get me out of my haze. Work had been too much. Stress, even more so. It was time to blow off some of it.
“Speak of the devil,” I growled.
“That’s her ex?” Sloan sounded shocked. “Let’s get out of here, we’ve seen enough—”
“No.” I let a sinister smile spread over my face as I decided to see just how accurate the information broker was. “Let him stay. Let him watch. It’s the least he deserves.”
For once, Sloan didn’t seem so keen on my revenge plan. Her hand was on my arm. “I’m all for fucking a girl in front of her ex but… I don’t like the look in his eyes. Lillian and I will be here, and if I see some weird shit, I’m pulling the plug.”
I gave her a two-finger salute. “My guardian angel. But don’t worry, I got this.”
Finally, she smiled. “Show him everything he missed.”
I pushed through the crowd until I got to my girl, who looked up at me with a small smile. Every time I got close to her, I was enamored by her beauty all over again. I couldn’t believe how lucky I’d been to even get a chance with her in the first place.
She was wearing a deep red dress that fit nicely over her curves. It wasn't anything over the top, but I found these outfits, the ones she could wear wherever and were easily accessible, were the ones that turned me on the most.
Her hair was up in a high ponytail, and her makeup didn’t go beyond dark, smoky eyes and red lips.
Unassuming and the most stunning woman here tonight. A perfect combination.
Lillian gave me a smile before she went to find Sloan.
“Oh! Remembered I was here, did you?” Liz asked with a sensual curve of her lips.
I put an arm around her and guided her deeper into the club. My heart soared when she leaned into me and her fingers threaded through mine.
It would be so easy if we could just continue like this.
“Fair warning: your ex-husband decided to show up here tonight.” Shock colored her face, but I sent her what I hoped was a calming smile. “Don't you think this would be the best time to get back at him?”
“Jax…”
I took her to one of the stages. There was a small railing around it so people couldn't get too close, and I gently placed her hands on the metal bar. My lips were at her ear, and my hands were running up her arms.
“Want to play? Just for tonight? Let me show him how you should've been treated.”
