“He’s tired of waiting. It seems like without her sister getting in the way, he is able to get to her, but he didn’t realize she had more people. He might retaliate. So be careful. I know you like her.”

I nodded before thanking him and heading out to my car. Now it was time to get ready to see my girl. I was falling in love with her, and I would do anything to protect her.

Iknew lesbians moved fast, but I wasn’t a dive-in-headfirst kind of woman. I caught feelings pretty quickly, but falling in love was different. Hades made me feel like I had a schoolgirl crush, only that crush was the best thing that happened to me. She had zero hesitation when it came to her feelings for me. Her devotion was unwavering. Hell, she was going to start a war to make sure I was safe.

Hades was everything I wanted and more. I lit various candles and scattered rose petals across the room and on the blankets I laid on the floor for us. Tonight was about romance, and I wanted to enjoy everything with her.

I stepped into the kitchen, gathering the ingredients to make alfredo. To say I was a professional cook would be a lie, but I knew how to whip up an amazing alfredo pasta. Vesper stepped into the kitchen, her arms folded across her chest as she eyed me.

“What are you doin’?”

“I’m cookin’ good lookin’.” I laughed.

She stepped behind me, kissing my cheek. “And why are you cooking?”

“Because I have a hot date. Hades is coming, and I wanted to surprise her. I have a cut on my wrist, not a broken bone.”

“You should be resting.”

I ignored her as I stirred my sauce. They knew I wouldn’t take kindly to them babying me. I didn’t need people to treat me like I was glass. I was attacked—I wasn’t killed. If they kept hovering, it would piss me off.

“Vesper, I will stab you. If you want to help, shred cheese for me. I’m not stopping my life because I was hurt. I’m having a date with my girlfriend who drove to see me and make sure I was okay. And then when she is home, I can enjoy my time with you unless you piss me off.”

“Okay, you win.”

When the food was done, I scurried back into my room and showered. Sex wasn’t my priority tonight, but I did slip into a hot-pink, lace babydoll with a matching thong and garters. I loved the way Hades looked at me and how she loved every inch of my body. Being confident in my skin was one thing, but having women who cherished every inch was something other worldly.

I grabbed a black silk robe and slipped it on. While I was very open with my body and walked around the clubhouse in limited clothes, I wasn’t stepping outside in lingerie.

I met Hades outside and she had a bouquet of carnations and tulips. Hades was a goddess and she was mine. Holy fucking shit. How did I get blessed to have a woman like this? The royal blue dress she wore stole my breath away. The color was striking against her skin tone. Her skin looked radiant, and the color saturated. She looked perfect. Hot damn. I think I was drooling.

“What are you staring at, my valkyrie?"

She bent down to adjust the strap of her heel, and as I got a nice view of her cleavage, my soul officially left my body. Hades was ethereal, breathtaking, and she was mine. And I was one selfish woman.

“Is this the part when I get on my knees? I mean, I am in the presence of a goddess.”

“Careful, those are the words that’ll make me get on my knee with a diamond ring.”

For a moment, I forgot what I was going to do. Hades. I pressed her against her car, taking a deep breath and hoping I didn’t fuck this up. “I love you, Haven Morningstar. You see the darkest parts of me and you choose to love me, anyway. You’re never afraid.”

Her thumb followed the curve of my ear as she tucked a loose strand away, her eyes never leaving mine. “Oh, I’m afraid.” My face dropped, and I swallowed a lump in my throat. Her hand dipped under my chin and lifted my face so my eyes met hers again. “I’m only afraid of a world where I don’t get to choose you. I love you, every part of you, even the parts you try to hide from me.”

My lip trembled. “Even my darkness?”

“Even the darkest parts of you. I don’t care what loving you does to me, because I will follow you to the pits of hell and dance in the flames.”

I wrapped my hands around her neck as she pressed her free hand against my waist. A heartbeat of a second passed as I leaned forward and pressed my lips to hers. We barely had time to let the words process before emotions took over us. The kiss was deep and sure. All of our kisses were, but this one was different. Her lips move against mine with the same intensity. Her hands moved to my waist, and it sent a shiver down my spine.

When we pulled back again, we didn’t need to say anything. The space between us was breathless and charged with passion and love. I realized at this moment, I never wanted a life without Hades in it, and call me reckless, but I wanted everything with her.

I pulled away slightly, my lips still lingering with hers. “Before we do anything else, I need to tell you something,” she whispered against me.

“What?”
