He folds his arms. “You know what I would prefer? If you’d never re-entered my life. It was peaceful and predictable, then you came and fucked it up. Again.”
“You should’ve taken me to the bus station like I asked!”
He unfolds his arms and moves closer. That look in his eyes… he’s like a hunter with his target in sight.
My heart thumps harder. I back up and raise the basket, darting a glance behind him at the door.
“Don’t even try it,” he growls. “If you run, I’ll catch you.”
And I suspect that when he does, he’ll reward himself for the effort in the exact way I’m trying to avoid.
What do I do?
Should I throw the basket at him and run anyway?
And go where?
“Please, Jacob. Don’t… don’t make me have sex with you.”
He takes another step, the basket a barrier between us. He would’ve stepped closer if I didn’t have it in my hands.
“I’m not going to fuck you.”
His voice is lower and too smooth. Like a shady salesman trying to sell a product that’s too good to be true.
I glare at him. “But you want to.”
“Yes, I want to.”
The sordid truth, loud and clear. It’s scary I don’t detect even an ounce of shame in his voice or on his face.
“You resent me but want to fuck me?”
“It’s an interesting conundrum.”
“At least the solution is obvious—you can’t!”
Another dark smile graces his lips, a determined glint in his eyes.
“You can fuck yourself while I watch.”
“What?”
“Put down the basket and lie on the bed.”
“Jacob—”
“Is that a protest about to leave those lovely lips, sweetheart? I hope not.”
My grip on the basket is tight enough to bend the hard plastic.
I’m a step away from the point of no return. What Jacob wants is even more inappropriate than everything he’s made me do so far.
If I give in to this, I’m opening the door to more. To worse.
What’s his limit?
What’s mine?
