She swallowed, fighting a new wave of choking emotions. “I don’t want to think about it anymore.”

“It’s going to be okay,” he whispered, pulling her closer and pressing a comforting kiss to her lips.

“Then why doesn’t it feel like it?” she shuddered out, holding his gaze and coming back, kissing him again—once, twice, as tears fell. “Why does it feel like nothing’s ever going to be okay again?”

“Callie—”

She pressed her finger to his lips. “No more.” She went after his jaw with teasing nips and nibbles. “I just want to think about you—get lost in you,” she whispered, sliding her hand over his crotch. “What you do to me. The way you make me feel.”

“Callie—”

She shook her head. “Touch me.”

He pulled her shirt over her head and palmed her breasts.

She whimpered as calloused fingers teased her nipples. “More.” She went after his snap and zipper. “Touch me more.”

He yanked her shorts and panties to the floor and shoved his fingers inside her as he pushed her back against the wall.

She gasped with the rush of delicious tingles. “Yes. Keep doing that.”

Holding her gaze, he picked up his pace—sweeping, teasing, promising her exactly what she craved.

She built, climbing fast, clutching at his arms as her legs trembled. Fighting for her breath, she waited, teetering on the edge, then finally shattered on a long, loud cry, reveling in her release.

He grabbed hold of her hips and lifted her up, sinking her down onto him.

She locked her arms around his neck and tipped her head against the wall, crying out again as another wash of heat moved through her body. “More, Nate. More.”

“Count on it.” He slammed into her, flesh slapping flesh, his breath coming in torrents.

She froze, tensing, climaxing and taking him with her in a frenzy of lips meeting lips. Holding him tight, she rested her head on his shoulder, catching her breath.

He eased her away from the wall and took her weight. “Better?”

She nodded, lifting her head, stroking her fingers through his hair. “That felt so good.”

“It wasn’t half-bad.”

“I needed that.”

“I know you did.” He kissed her. “Are you up for a shower?”

She nodded again, sated, ready to deal with life again. “Gwen’s waiting for us.”

He held her gaze. “We’re going to get through this, Callie. We’re going to make this okay.”

The tears came back, and she ruthlessly blinked them away. “I want her to be alive. She has to be alive, Nate. I need her to be.”

He said nothing more as he kept her locked in his arms and walked upstairs.
