This whole thing is crazy. It’s absolutely absurd.
Cadence comes out a few minutes later, looking fairly well put together considering what we just did. She shakes her head at me and rolls her eyes.
“You’re too much,” she says, blushing yet again.
I grab her hand and pull her close to me.
And maybe it’s how I feel when her body’s pressed against mine or perhaps it’s the fact that I watched her cry her way through the wedding, but right now I can’t imagine ever not touching her, not kissing her, not being with her.
The emotions I’m feeling are surprising and a little disconcerting.
And then it hits me. I need to take a deep breath and try to think clearly for a moment.
Levi. Get a hold of yourself. You hardly even know this girl. So you got caught up in the emotions of everything, and yeah she’s very cute and sexy.
But you’re not falling for her.
YOU ARE NOT FALLING FOR THIS GIRL.
This is business, plain and simple. You have a fucking plan to carry out and you’re damn well sticking to the fucking plan.
With that little pep talk out of the way, I shake off my doubts and guilt and get ready for the next phase.
“Want to go take a walk on the beach?” I ask her suddenly.
“But your friends—“
“They won’t miss us.” I give her a look and tug her hand again.
Cadence gives a nod of her head and we turn away from the reception and toward the exit.
CADENCE
The sun is setting, and the evening is starting to grow chilly with the sea breeze coming in from the Atlantic. I shiver, my shoes hanging off my fingers at my side. Without a word, Levi slides his suit jacket off his shoulders and places it on mine.
“Thanks,” I say, and in response he just nods.
I still can’t believe what just happened. No man has ever done anything like that to me. It felt dirty and wrong and yet completely right all at once.
Just remembering the way he felt against me, and how badly I yearned for him to slip his cock inside my pussy, to fuck me from behind…
It makes me dizzy the effect Levi has on me.
The bottom line is that I wanted to be taken in every sense of the word, and I’m still buzzing deep in my abdomen from the sensation.
Everything between us this trip has been incredible, and I thought this romantic stroll on the beach would be even more incredible still.
But since stepping out onto the sand of the beach, Levi has fallen silent.
We’ve come so far in such a short period of time. I’ve let him into nearly every part of me, and it seemed like he was letting me in too. But as if suffering from buyer’s remorse, he seems to have retreated, and now it’s like I’m left with just the outside of him—a shell.
I want to see his eyes, feel his warmth once more, but he won’t even look at me.
We stroll silently, the only sound the rush of the waves. He’s holding my hand, but is otherwise completely disconnected. I’m close to asking him what the hell is up when he stops short in the sand.
“Cadence, we need to talk,” he says, his voice gruff, his eyes focused off in the middle distance of the ocean.
“Okayyyy,” I reply, and I’m all but certain this is the I’ve made a huge mistake conversation. I brace myself for it, telling myself I knew this was all too good to be true. That he was too good to be true.
