The cowboy dished food on the plates, then Jamie delivered them to the table.
“Where’s Tank?” My dog was nowhere in sight.
“In the yard,” Jamie answered. “I fed him already. He’s taking his afternoon stroll.”
“It’s not after noon,” I argued.
“Same difference,” she said, still glaring at me.
“Sit,” I ordered the pretty boy when he shot those confused eyes my way. “Eat.”
The four of us took our seats after the food, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, and what appeared to be waffles, and drinks, orange juice, apple juice, and coffee, were set out. I watched the three of them carefully, wondering what the hell they’d spent the morning talking about.
Jamie was the one to speak first after downing half a glass of apple juice.
“So, imagine my surprise when I decided to go out to a club last night,” she began. “Catrina and Elle got right in, no issues. But the moment I handed over my ID, I learned I’d been blacklisted.”
I downed half my coffee, the heat scorching my throat. I ignored it.
“What did you do, Zeke?” she demanded, her hands fisting on the table.
“I…” Rather than answer, I shoveled eggs into my mouth and shrugged.
Jamie frowned. “You are such an asshole.”
The pretty boy chuckled, his eyes remaining on his food. I contemplated punishment while I tried to come up with a response.
“Zeke, I’m serious,” Jamie said, her tone changing from anger to disappointment.
“Fuck.” I took another sip of coffee. “I changed my mind. I don’t want to talk about it now.”
“Too bad. I’ve spent some time with your new toys this morning. I think they can handle it.”
Two sets of green eyes shot over to me. I imagined they were waiting for me to excuse them. While I wanted to, I figured it was probably best to have an audience. Less chance of my baby sister throwing knives at me.
Before I could answer, Jamie turned her attention to the boys.
“I’m not sure if he’s told you, but yesterday, I asked my big brother if he’d let me go to Dichotomy.”
The pretty boy damn near choked on his bacon, his eyes flying up to mine. I cocked an eyebrow. Yeah. It’s like that, pretty boy.
“I took his rejection with grace,” she said sweetly.
I snorted. “That’s what you call your little tantrum?”
She ignored me. “Since Dichotomy’s not the only kink club in town, I figured I had options. So, a couple of my friends decided we’d go check out one of the others.” Her dark eyes shot my way. “I’ve been blacklisted, Zeke! From at least three clubs.”
I narrowed my eyes. “I told you to stay away from the clubs, Jamie.”
“Yeah. I heard you. Then I realized something.”
I waited for her to continue, knowing I wasn’t going to like it.
“I’m twenty-four years old. I live on my own. I’m actually an adult, adult-ing all day, every day. So, it’s my right to do whatever I want to do.”
“You have no idea what goes on in these clubs, Jamie.”
“Actually…” Her gaze bounced from face to face before landing on me. “I kinda do. More so now that I’ve seen your new toys in action.”
