“Tomorrow.” I lean down and kiss her. “We can do all of the responsible, adult things tomorrow, but tonight, let’s celebrate.”
“I like that idea.”
“Love you.”
“Love you too.”
My heart soars. I will never get tired of hearing her say those words to me—or saying them to her.
Epilogue
A Year Later—Hadley
“What are you doing?” I giggle when Wes scoops me into his arms.
“What does it look like I’m doing?” He fumbles with the key to our hotel room. “I’m carrying you across the threshold.”
“Don’t you think that’s a bit old-fashioned?”
He growls, finally getting the door open, and strides inside. “I don’t care, wife.”
My stomach swoops at the word wife, and I glance at the wedding band on my finger. I didn’t actually think anything would change between us when we got married today in front of our friends and family. We were already living together with Daisy, our puppy, and it’s only a piece of paper. But hearing the Justice of the Peace pronounce us husband and wife, knowing he was mine and I was his forever, well, that felt monumental.
And now, him calling me his wife totally does something to me.
He sets me on my feet and steps back, a hungry look in his eyes as he yanks his tie off and tosses it onto the chair. His jacket is next to go. He tugs his shirt out of his pants and starts to unbutton it as he steps closer to where I’m standing, frozen as I watch the love of my life, my husband, get undressed.
“How quickly can you get your dress off?” he asks, his voice low as his gaze tracks over me. “Or better yet …” He reaches for me.
“Don’t you dare, Weston A. Reynolds.” I put a hand to my chest, glaring at him.
He quirks a brow. “Why not, Hadley Jane Reynolds?” A shiver racks through my body. “When are you ever going to wear it again? I need you naked.”
“I like this dress. Maybe I’ll get it shortened into a cocktail dress and dyed a different color.” Because no one needs an off-white cocktail dress.
“Fine.” He waves a hand at me. “Have it your way.”
I spin around. “You’ll have to unbutton me.” I wiggle my ass. He chuckles, spanking it lightly, and my need for him only intensifies.
With deft fingers, he undoes the buttons, and I pull my arms out of my sleeves, peeking over my shoulder as I let the dress fall at my feet. His nostrils flare, his eyes widening as he takes in my undergarments, underwear embroidered with Mrs. Reynolds. Before I can ask him if he likes it, he’s stepping into my space and spinning me around to face him, my hands coming to rest on his chest.
“I love you, Mrs. Hadley Jane Reynolds.” His voice is low and husky.
“I love you too, husband.”
He crashes his lips to mine, and we get lost in each other. Eventually, he pulls away from me, and I can’t help whining.
“Off.” He points at my lingerie. “On the bed.”
I strip off the rest of my clothes as he hastily pulls off his shoes and socks and gets undressed, abandoning his clothes on the floor.
I lie on my back, opening my legs for him.
“You’re fucking beautiful, wife.”
He gets onto the bed, hovering over me, and intertwines his hands with mine.
“You’re not so bad yourself, husband. Now are you going to fuck me, or am I going to have to take charge here?”
