It was cold now that I was standing naked in a barn. My bare feet weren’t helping with that, and honestly, it was gross not having something on my feet given my location. The stall was clean, thanks to my amazing mate who took such good care of me. But stall clean and barefoot clean were two different things.

The next step was getting out of here. I was on borrowed time waiting for that dog to come and try and bite my ass. If I was quiet enough there was a microscopic chance that I’d get out unscathed.

I took a step toward the fence, and then a flashlight shone on me. I stilled, more like a deer in the headlights than a Highland bull. So much for getting out unnoticed. My mate was standing there, and he wasn’t wearing the same cheerful expression he had been since he got me.

“Who’s there? Where did you come from?” His voice cracked. The poor guy was terrified, and I couldn’t blame him.

I wavered. Did I put my hands in the air so he didn’t shoot? Should I cover my dick to be more respectful? Maybe grabbing something to put in front of me would work? In the end I opted to cover my dick. I was bold, but not that bold.

“It’s just me,” I said.

“Who the hell is ‘just me’? And what are you doing on my property?” Graham was dressed in a pair of flannel sleep pants that hung low on his waist. A thin white t-shirt covered his torso. In that moment it was good I was covering my junk because it was starting to stir despite the current situation.

I met his eyes, and they went wide. His bright brown eyes stared back at me. They narrowed as he took in the sight of me. My mate’s nostrils flared, his eyes flashing with confusion, then arousal.

Oh shit. He felt it too. I’d been right. He was my mate, and while he probably had no idea what was happening, he felt it too.

This was going to get awkward real fast.

Before I could say anything and try to explain why a naked man stood where his newly purchased bull used to be, he said, “It’s you.”

Then he closed the space between us and covered my lips with his.

Chapter 6

Graham

After several long moments of letting my mouth slide over this man’s, my brain finally returned to normal functioning. At least… semi-normal functioning. Most of my blood had drifted south, and my hard cock was forcing my sleep pants lower on my hips. If I wasn’t careful, I was going to be standing there in the cow pen with my pants around my ankles. Which was only slightly more crazy than standing here half naked with a naked man I’d never met nor seen, yet I couldn’t stop touching him.

Logically, I should’ve called the police. There was a naked man roaming my property. His presence should’ve terrified me. Only it didn’t scare me. It had me feeling something I hadn’t felt before, a need that couldn’t be ignored.

My hands roved over his naked torso, the feel of his soft skin with just a trickling of chest hair was driving me insane. His sinewy muscles flexed under my touch. Goosebumps peppered his skin. From the cold? Or from me?

I forced myself backward, letting the kiss break. I hadn’t asked permission or done so much as learn his name and I was on him like this. It wasn’t fair to the man. He was obviously in crisis or he wouldn’t be buck-ass naked in my barn. This wasn’t something that happened on accident.

He whined when we were separated instead of pushing me away or decking me, like I half expected. He licked his lips and moved to close the distance between us. He was feeling this too. This wasn’t one-sided. Weird? Shocking? Hotter than hot? Absolutely, but not one-sided.

“Who are you?” I asked, putting a hand to his chest, unable to keep away from him. My other hand rested on his hip just above his ass, and for the first time in my life, I wished I was an octopus so I could have six more “arms” to wrap around him.

“Ewan,” he said. His hands settled on my shoulders, but unlike me, he was touching cloth. Why did I have to be dressed?

“I’m Graham.”

“I know,” he replied with a sheepish grin.

I tugged him closer to me. Later I could figure out more about him. How he knew me, who he was, why he was here, but in this moment, I just wanted him in my arms. In my bed. This might’ve been the opening scene of a future Dateline, but what a way to go.

Never in my life had I felt a fraction of this attraction. The pull was too strong, and I refused to attempt to ignore it.

“Inside,” I said.

“Yes,” he breathed, and I had a feeling that he wasn’t referring to inside the house like I was. He wanted me inside him. I wanted it too. But first, we needed a bed or my couch or the floor. I didn’t care where as long as it was inside and away from the bugs and animal scents.

Either I was about to do the most reckless thing of my entire life or I was dreaming. If it was the latter, I planned to savor every last second. If it was the first, I simply did not care. I could be rational tomorrow.

I was an alpha who’d found an omega, and every part of my body screamed that he was mine. He wasn’t protesting, in fact his body shouted that he felt the same way.

“Are you sure about this?” I asked as we speed-walked toward the house. I’d never push, but gods, I needed him to tell me he was.
