Her thumb traces slowly along the inside of my leg.

I keep my eyes on the highway, readjusting myself in the seat. “You’re a terrible liar.”

“You like adrenaline, right?”

“I do, why?”

“You’re always going on about speed, danger, and how it’s the only thing that shuts your brain up.” Her fingers creep higher, tightening my grip on the wheel. “So I’m helping. Community service, basically. I’ve got hours to get in, and keeping you focused enough not to put us through another fence feels charitable.”

A rough laugh slips out of me. “That what you’re calling this?”

“Mm-hm. I’m very giving.” She leans closer, her hair brushing my shoulder as her voice lowers. “Thought I’d give you a little rush.”

My jaw tightens. “How very thoughtful of you, Mama. So selfless.”

When her hand moves again, one of mine leaves the wheel on instinct.

Cece catches it immediately and puts it right back.

“No.”

I glance at her.

She taps the steering wheel with one nail. “Both hands on the wheel. Focus.”

“You’re making that pretty fucking difficult.”

“That’s the point.”

She watches my fingers close around the wheel before continuing, moving slowly enough that I know she’s paying attention to every change in my breathing.

Fucking hell.

I turn my head, but she catches my jaw and points my face toward the windshield.

“Eyes stay on the road, pretty boy.”

“Fuck, you’re enjoying this way too much.”

“Actually, I think I’m enjoying it exactly the right amount.”

My hand shifts from the wheel again, reaching for her thigh.

She slaps it back into place.

“Do that again and I stop.”

“What the fuck! You’re touching me.”

“Exactly.”

“Mean little thing.”

“You like me mean.”

“Way too fucking much.”

Her smile deepens as she settles into the control she’s found. Every time I start to adjust to her, she changes the pace. Every time I try to touch her, she puts my hand back on the wheel and reminds me to drive.
