Still, I watch him lean closer while she tucks a strand of her hair behind her ear, and suddenly the pump is moving way too fucking slow.

The second it clicks off, I replace the nozzle and head around the car just as Cece comes out carrying a bag and two drinks.

The guy follows her, still talking.

His eyes land on the equipment packed into the back when they reach the Civic. “You heading to Sol Fuego?”

“Yeah, I’m actually playing it,” Cece says.

“No shit.” His brows lift. “What day?”

“She’s got a set tomorrow.”

Both of them look at me.

I step in beside her and take the bag from her hand, letting my palm settle against the small of her back. Her body goes still for half a second, but she doesn’t move away.

“She’s real fucking good too,” I add, looking at him. “Got a sick set planned,”

The guy’s gaze drops to my hand before returning to my face. “Cool. Maybe I’ll catch it.”

“You should.”

Something in my smile must land, because he nods once, tells Cece he’ll see her there, then heads back toward his car.

She waits until he’s out of earshot before looking up at me. “Was that necessary?”

“What?”

“This.” She points toward my hand, which is still resting against her.

“You want me to move it?”

Her eyes hold mine for a second before she turns to replace the gas nozzle. “I want you to stop walking around waving your cock every time another man looks at me.”

That pulls a laugh out of me. “I wasn’t waving anything around, Mama. But I do like knowing my cock was the first place your mind went.”

Her eyes narrow, but there’s heat behind it. “Revel, you walked over like you owned the whole gas station.”

“Not the whole thing.” I step closer, lowering my voice. “Just the part you were standing in.”

“I’m not territory, Revel.”

“Never said you were.”

“You practically pissed a goddamn circle around me.”

I grin, letting my gaze drop to her mouth before meeting her eyes again. “And you stayed right in the middle of it.”

“Ay, claro.” She rolls her eyes and arches her back with a quiet groan, pressing a hand to her lower spine. “My back is killing me.”

I hold my hand out for the keys. “Let me drive.”

Her eyes narrow. “You? Drive my car?”

“Yes, your car. I promise not to launch it through a fence.”

She studies me for a second. “You’ll be careful?”
