“That’s not the same. He’sjust…” It wasn’t the same, was it?
“Call him.”
Connor blew out a longbreath. “I’ll think about it.”
Sabrina dug through thesmall purse she had slung across her body. She searched through astack of cards and handed him one. “When you’ve talked to him, callLarissa.”
He looked at the card. “Itold you I don’t want to see a therapist.”
Sabrina snorted. “And youcall Mario stubborn.”
“It’s notstubbornness.”
“It is too. Neither one ofyou wants help.”
No, it wasn’t. Connor wasjust being realistic. “I tried this kind of help.”
“Finding the righttherapist isn’t easy.”
“And you think your friendis right for me?”
“If she’s not, she’ll helpyou find someone who is.” Sabrina folded his hand closed around thecard. “Just think about it. Please.”
Could he try again? ForJeremy he might have, but now…
“Do this for you,” Sabrinasaid as if she’d read his mind.
“I’ll think about it.” Thatwas the best he could promise.

“I told you to tellhim,” David huffed. He leaned against the kitchen counter, glaringat Jeremy.
Jeremy brought the knifedown hard through an apple he was chopping. He needed pie. Heneeded to roll out dough and make it come together because he couldcontrol that, unlike the storm churning inside him, the one Davidwas doing nothing to calm. “You’re blaming me?”
David simply stared at himuntil Jeremy looked away.
“Fine. I fucked up buthe—”
“Hurt you right back. Surehe did.”
“Wait. Are you defendinghim?” It was bad enough that David wasn’t coddling him. Now he wastaking Connor’s side?
“He cares for you,” Davidsaid.
“But you told me that wasimpossible, that he’d never fall for me.”
“No, I said it wasimprobable. That’s hardly the same thing.” The bastard had thenerve to grin.
“Close enough,” Jeremygrumbled.
“The difference can be thedeciding factor in court. Don’t knock it.”
“You told me not to plan mylife around Connor.”
“Right, but telling him youhave a job offer and making your decision based on what he thinksof it are not the same thing.”
