David leaned against thedoorframe, studying him. “You’ve been seeing him, haven’tyou?”

Jeremy wasn’t going toinsult David by asking who he meant. “Yes.”

“And by seeing him, I meansleeping with him.”

Jeremy nodded.

David sighed dramatically.“I suppose it was inevitable.”

“Was it?” Maybe it hadbeen, at least after Shakespeare in the Park.

David expression turnedserious. “You’ve fallen for him, haven’t you?”

No point denying thateither. “Yeah.”

“Have you actually talkedto him, or just fucked?”

Trust David to take thedirect approach. “We’ve talked too.”

David raised hisbrows.

“He told me why he’s notout.”

“And you accepted it?”David asked.

“What do you want me tosay?”

“That there’s some chancethis won’t end with me scraping you off the pavement and puttingyou back together.”

Surely, there was a chance. There was always a chance, right? “There is.”

David frowned. “So, you’reactually dating a man who’s in the closet?”

Dating. Was what he wasdoing with Connor actually dating? He shrugged.

“Jeremy.”

“It’s been two weeks,David. I don’t know where this is going yet, and I don’t have toknow. Connor understands how I feel. He knows I don’t want tohide.”

“But you are hiding,” Davidinsisted.

Was he? “No, Connoris.”

“You’re hiding the factthat you’re seeing him, even from me.”

Jeremy fought to keep hisvoice calm. He’d known David would be angry. “You know now.Apparently, you knew anyway.”

“How long?” Davidasked.

“How long what?” He’d justtold David how long they’d been seeing each other.

“How long are you going tolet this go on?”

Jeremy didn’t have ananswer. “I’m going to see if he’ll go out in public with me soon, okay?”

“And while you’reout?”

Did David have to make thisso hard? “I don’t expect him to fuck me on the table at arestaurant, if that’s what you mean.”
