Connor was glad to havesomething to focus on. “You got it. If you think of anything else, just text me, okay?”

****

A half hour later,Connor pulled up in front of the quadplex where Sabrina rented atiny apartment. He used his key to let himself in, glad he didn’thave to drag her out of bed to open the door. But she wasn’t in herbedroom, she was lying on the couch watching Friends.

“Thank God you’re here. Ithink this is the five-hundred-and-twelfth episode I’ve watchedtoday. Did you know they put them all on Netflix?”

“No. How old were you whenthey were on the air? Two?”

“Three when it started, butDanielle—she was my freshman roommate—her older brother wasobsessed with it. So she got me hooked.”

“You want one of thesenow?” Connor asked pulling out the box of Popsicles.

She nodded, holding out herhand. “Yeah. Thanks for getting this stuff for me.”

“No problem.”Otherwise I’d still be crying like a baby onthe floor of my apartment after ruining things with the first guyI’ve wanted more than a quick fuck from.

Connor left the box ofcrackers and a bottle of ginger ale on the coffee table and put therest of the things away. “I brought you some chicken soup too, forwhen you feel like something else.”

“You’re awesome.” Sabrinasmiled. She already seemed to have a bit more color in her cheeks.Maybe there was something to the Popsicle cure. “What did you dotonight?”

“Nothing, I’ve just been…nothing,” Connor said as he sat in a chair next to thecouch.

“So Jeremy didn’t stopby?”

“Wh….” Dammit. Jeremy hadasked Sabrina for his address. “Oh um… yeah, he dropped my supplybag by.”

“I don’t suppose you’regoing to tell me why he called me to find out your address insteadof just calling you.”

He shrugged. “I have noidea.”

Sabrina gave him a glarethat would make most men turn tail and run. Connor had been taughtto resist interrogation by terrorists. He’d run ops where hepretended to be someone else, and he’d blended in flawlessly, butSabrina staring him down nearly did him in. She ought to consider acareer at the CIA.

“Connor.”

“What?” He worked to makehis face the picture of innocence.

“Are you going to tell mewhat happened with Jeremy or not?”

Not.“Nothing happened.”

Fury poured off her. “I’vebeen sitting here, trying not to die, watching nineties sitcoms allday. The least you can do is be honest with me.”

“Sabrina, there’snoth—”

“Connor, do you think I’mblind?”

He leaned close and peeredinto her eyes as if checking them for defects. “Nope.”

She growled and Connorleaned back. This was not going to end well. After the day she’dhad, Sabrina didn’t seem to be in the mood for joking.

“I saw the way he looked atyou.”

Connor shrugged again, pulling on the veneer of an in-charge Marine. “So he thinks I’mhot. Nothing I can do about that.”

“I saw you looking at himtoo.”

Connor started to open hismouth but Sabrina didn’t let him speak.
