“I kissed him, and honestly, I don’t know if I did it for the right reasons.”

“Fucking Vivian, always making a mess out of things. Are you okay Win?”

“Yes. Levi was really great, and we talked.”

“You did?” She is fairly surprised.

“Yes. I told him some stuff already. After that call, I gathered there was no point in not talking about it with him.”

“My baby girl has grown so much.” I laugh, but it’s shaky and weirdly emotional.

“Who knew that opening up could feel so freaking great?”

“Me, Winnie. I did!”

“Right. So, what should I do?”

“Wait. I need to see your face.” I accept her request as soon as it flashes on my phone screen, releasing a sigh of relief when her perfect face appears on my phone screen.

“What’s Levi’s favorite color?”

“You need to see me for that?”

She bobs her head. “Yes. I need to confirm something.”

“He’s not big on color, so I’d say black. Although, he does love the color blue. But not just any shade, a sort of lake blue.”

Junie’s face remains expressionless, not clueing me one bit about whatever it is she’s wanting to confirm.

“What’s his coffee order?”

“Well, that depends. He drinks an americano every morning. But on the weekend, he sometimes goes for a cappuccino. He drinks it in exactly three sips, and he lets out a little satisfied sigh after the last sip. He always ends up with foam on his upper lip, and I have to—why are you smiling like that?”

“Gosh Winnie bear, I think it’s more than okay if you have sex with Levi. This isn’t just a casual hook-up. That crush of yours seems to have taken flight to even higher grounds.”

“Hey, watch your implicative tone! I don’t like what you’re insinuating.”

“Just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it’s not true.” Suddenly, my stomach turns on itself. “Why do you seem so worried?”

“I’m afraid this whole thing could turn into a disaster.”

“It might. And if it does, we’ll deal with it the same way we dealt with my break-up with Henry,” Junie says.

“Order two hundred dollars’ worth of sushi using his credit card and key his car?”

“I was talking on a more emotional level. How we had a week-long sleepover and binged watched my favorite movies. We’re always there for each other.”

My face softens on the video call. “Right. Love you, Junebug.”

“Love you too. Now, go save a curb and hit that fine man instead.”

“I hit a curb, once!”

She winks and hangs up, leaving me both worried and excited over spending the weekend with Levi.

I really like him. But—and I hate to admit it, because I am really horny, I’m truly not sure if having sex with him is the right thing to do.

Not with my history.
