But then again, I do say that every time. I think my favorite might just be going through the season with Levi at my side.

“Wait. Should we do a redo of our make-out session?”

I wriggle my brows. He chuckles.

“Yes, absolutely. But keep your hands to yourself.”

“Yes, sir.” A glint of desire passes in his pupils; he leans in to bring his lips to mine. That’s when Sloane barges into the room, the box of Monopoly in her hands.

“Ready to create lifelong family rifts, partner?”

“Hell, yes.”

Levi slides his hand onto my nape to steal another kiss. I walk over to the table to help Sloane set up the game while people step into the room, ready to play.

“Levi, bro. Come on. What are you doing?” Sloane asks him.

“Enjoying the view,” he says again.

When I turn my head toward him, he isn’t looking out the window, though; he’s looking at me. Eyes so sparkly, it’s hard to breathe.

I can’t wait to welcome a new year by his side.

“Baby, I’m home…”

The first floor is in some kind of disarray.

I’m immediately worried for my girl.

When she comes striding down the stairs, she is freshly heartbroken. I do the first thing I think of: open my arms for her. She didn’t even hesitate for a second before making her way to me, letting her forehead hit my chest with a sob.

I don’t take for granted how much of a show of trust it is that she doesn’t feel the need to cry alone in the shower anymore. That she shows me her sadness and pain, so overtly.

I wrap my arms around her.

“What’s going on, Win?”

“My mom posted a picture of her and Livie baking cookies in her newly designed kitchen.”

“I’m sorry.”

“I’m a mess. And I’ve turned your home into a mess.”

I wince. Your home. Our home would sound so much better.

“I’ll turn your life into a mess. You should exile me back to Montreal.”

“Nope. I’m keeping you forever,” I state.

“You sure?”

“Yes.”

I hold her until there is no doubt in her mind that I’m ever letting her go.
