That was when Brad heard the loud rock music shaking the wall. “What is that noise?”

“Dawson.”

“Dawson?” Brad asked. That hadn’t been enough information.

“We had an agreement if either of us ever brought a man home, the other would turn their music loud so nothing would be overheard. Thin walls.” Luca yawned. His eyes fluttering closed. “First time one of us had to actually do it.”

As Luca seemed to drift to sleep, the confession had Brad smiling. He pulled Luca closer so that he could place a small kiss on the top of his head. Brad’s plans had gone completely off the rails. He had no idea what he was doing with Luca. The loss of control should have Brad fighting the urge to run. Instead, Brad allowed his own eyes to close as he held Luca close to his heart. A heart that Brad had thought he’d never want to risk again. What was it about Luca that made Brad want to toss all his rules out the window? And why did he think that might be the best thing that could happen to him?

Luca gave a tiny snort and cuddled closer, nearly climbing up Brad’s body.

This was nice. Even if Brad didn’t have all the answers. “Good night, sweet boy,” Brad whispered.

“Night, Daddy,” Luca murmured quietly.

Brad ignored the tears that threatened to fall.

CHAPTER EIGHT

Luca

Shifting forward on his board, Luca hissed and smiled at the ache in his ass. Brad had rocked Luca’s world and body in the best possible way. He’d even woken Luca with a fan-fucking-tastic blowjob before leaving for the gym.

For a man who claimed he didn’t know what he wanted, Brad was a good boyfriend. Were they boyfriends? Or was that moving too fast? He didn’t regret the sex or blowjob or even the sleeping together. Luca knew what he wanted. It was going to be a delicate balance of not pushing Brad too hard yet making sure that Brad knew that Luca wanted him around.

Since Luca’s experience with having a boyfriend was very limited, he was basically just trusting his instincts at this point. He could ask Marco maybe. Marco was happily living with his boyfriend and sir and that couldn’t be easy. Skinner was a hard man to get to know, even if his love for Marco was obvious. Luca had heard the story of how Skinner had practically been stalking his brother. Marco had caught Skinner’s eye and that was it. Pretty similar to how Luca felt about Brad.

Although Luca could congratulate himself on not stalking his sort of boyfriend, so that had to be a good thing.

James had found his own man and Daddy so that was another couple that Luca could get advice from. Luca had resources and he just might need to use them. He wanted this to work with Brad. Luca could admit that. He’d been a jerk to Brad because he’d liked the guy. Way more than Luca had liked anyone else.

Shaking himself from his thoughts, Luca spun onto his stomach and paddled out to do some surfing. He caught wave after wave until there were more people both in the water and filling the beach than he wanted to deal with.

He headed toward the beach. Luca was working the late shift and would close the coffee shop. The email from the school where he needed to register for the next semester’s classes was still in his inbox, waiting for Luca to make a decision. That reminded Luca that Brad had forgotten to ask Luca about his five-year plan at the end of their date. Except the date hadn’t really ended since they ended up spending all night together.

As if his thoughts had made the man materialize in front of him, Luca blinked the water out of his eyes stopping a few feet from the water.

Brad’s arms were crossed over his tanked chest, his big muscles bulging, as he smiled in Luca’s direction.

Around him both men and women were checking Brad out. Not that it seemed Brad noticed them or cared. In fact, Brad didn’t ever notice how often he was ogled. And Brad never looked at any of the men and women like he did Luca.

Smirking, Luca strode forward with his surfboard under one arm. He had to keep his cool. “Miss me already?” Luca teased.

Brad’s cheeks pinked and he dropped his gaze. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to bother you.”

“Bother me?” Luca repeated. “You’re not bothering me.”

“I’m not?” Brad didn’t look up, instead he dug the toe of his shoe into the packed sand.

“I was just teasing you.” And now Luca felt bad. He lowered his surfboard before striding to Brad and grabbing his chin. There were times like this that Luca wondered why Brad seemed so shy sometimes. Other times the cockiness oozed off Brad. Two very different reactions and one of them didn’t ping right to Luca. “I’m sorry.”

Brad shrugged. “I was wondering if you wanted to get breakfast. I stopped by the apartment and coffee shop. Dawson said that you’re usually hungry after you get done surfing in the morning.”

“Did he?” Luca appreciated his friend sending Brad looking for him. “I am hungry.”

Brad brightened. “Could I take you to breakfast?”

This was taking it slow? They’d only been a part a few hours. “Yes, Brad. I’d like to have breakfast with you. My treat though.”
