He nodded. “Kinda. I also need to go to the bathroom, so… why don’t you stay in bed while I get the card on my way back?”

I nodded; both my wolf and I were content with staying exactly where we were. In our bed, surrounded by Nix’s and my combined scents. Closing my eyes, I inhaled deeply, basking in the warmth. The happiness in the air. The way warmth radiated through my chest, the way Nix’s presence felt lighter now. Happier.

I heard his laugh coming from the kitchen, airy and light like tinkling bells. Free.

“I love them both, but they’re idiots,” he declared upon entering our bedroom, holding a bottle in his hand, shoulders shaking from silent laughter.

I furrowed my brow.

“Did they get us lube?”

He laughed harder. “Good god, no. But I’m not sure the chocolate sauce they got us is better. According to their card, it’s to ‘sweeten up our day.’”

“Goddess gracious,” I mumbled, shaking my head. “We’re their parents.”

Nix sniffed indignantly, then threw the bottle at my head, but I caught it and set it on our nightstand. “You might be old enough to have fathered them, but I’m merely ten years older.”

I snorted. “I would’ve been sixteen.”

My mate shrugged, mischief gleaming in his eyes. “Teen pregnancies exist. They made a whole reality show out of it.”

Huffing, I gestured for him to come closer. “Do you want to get revenge?”

Nix climbed onto the bed and slid under the comforter. “I think the answer should be no, but… yes?”

“Let’s make pancakes later. We can slather them in chocolate sauce. We need to use enough for them to notice. And then we wash the dishes and place the half-empty bottle in the fridge. Let them guess what exactly we’ve been using it for.”

Nix giggled, poking his finger between my ribs. “You, my mate, are evil. I love it. But honestly… I don’t think I want to get up yet.” His voice dropped, scent changing. “After all, we have the house to ourselves. No need for soundproofing shields. Just us.”

“Sounds perfect,” I whispered, already leaning in to catch his mouth. “Absolutely fucking perfect.”

“Mhmm,” Nix hummed against my lips, wrapping his arms around the back of my neck and pulling me down. “Fucking indeed sounds perfect.”

His mouth was hot on mine, his tongue darting out without hesitation, licking over the seam of my mouth, demanding entry. I groaned as sparks danced over my skin, electricity filling the air. Nix’s tongue slipped in, playing with mine, the unique taste that was just him bursting on my tongue.

I revelled in the way his hands gripped my hair, pulling me in, his tongue retreating then dipping back into my mouth. An invisible force put pressure on my tailbone, and Nix raised his hips, thrusting against me, dragging his already hard cock against my abs.

“Want you,” he whispered. “So bad.”

“Want you too.” I rubbed my cock against his thigh, my eyes falling shut as the friction sent shocks through my body. “Need you.”

I always did.

Nix laughed, his hands lightly scratching down my back, his fingernails sharp, the sting welcome, the tingling going straight into my dick. I moaned when Nix dug his fingernails deeper into my skin, pulling me even closer in an attempt to get me to blanket him, but I refused to, making sure not to squash him.

“Graay,” Nix whined, his voice needy, eyes pleading with me.

“I’m too heavy.”

“Pfft,” he rolled his eyes. “You’re not that heavy. Besides, I’ve gained a ton of weight; I can take it.”

“A ton?” I arched my brows, shifting my weight to one of my arms and letting the other one roam over his torso. “I can’t count your ribs anymore. I’d call that healthy.”

He laughed. “Yes. Healthy enough to be pressed down and fucked into the mattress by my mate.”

I kissed his nose. “Maybe.”

“Pleaase,” Nix whined, pushing his cock against my stomach. “Do I need to beg? Because I will.”
